Let's see. You started out, by your words, before your crap band, at 5-6 and 215, which according the NIH BMI calculator is a BMI 34.7. Now you weight, um, WHAT, exactly? You keep changing your story. When you posted that before pic, you said 18/20. Now you say 22/24. See, your story is so changable as to be completely untrustworthy.
Then you twist the words written to you. You say you were told you have to be DYING to qualify for a DS. That's a lie, unless someone not on here told you that. You're full of **** and it's obvious to everyone.
So what's going to change next? Did you miraculously shrink two inches?
Give it up already.
And yes the above poster said you have to be dying in order to get ds surgery. I believe her name is sue if you look above.
She obviously has some facts mixed up.
I would have to agree with you that this is a HUGE surgery. My sister works in a hospital and watched this surgery and she was very scared of me getting this. She was scared because it looked like such an awful surgery and there were many changes being made. She did understand and was thankful my doctor was so cautious with who he does them on.
If youre BMI is that low you just need to diet and exercise. I know it is easier said than done but why on earth would you want to put yourself through such an extensive surgery. Especially reading about the peope that have trouble from the surgery. With your BMI that low I don't think your body could sustain being sick and not eating for very long.
You should be grateful your doctor was big enough to say he doesn't do them on that low of a BMI. Take those words and run with them.

Thats news to me!
Good grief...you ARE ...uhm..."uninformed," aren't you? I'm not at all surprised that it's news to you.
Your insurance will pay for wls to treat Morbid Obesity. Are you familiar with the word "morbid?" And, per your post on 3/5, you were and may still not be even obese, let alone morbidly obese.
You're trying to kill yourself, and now that I think about it..it just might make the world a better place. You go for it.

In any group of a hundred people, there are probably 2 or 3 sociopaths. In a group of a thousand, more like 20-30. They function very well in "affinity groups," where people have things in common and tend to trust strangers. I am NOT saying not to trust anyone. I AM saying that there are probably two dozen sociopaths hanging out here and looking for victims. Most are NOT serial killers.

I understand wanting to get rid of the crap band. I understand the misery of regaining lost weight. I also understand that weight is hard on joints. All makes perfect sense.
If you were in denial, claiming a BMI of 29 when you have a BMI of 35, okay.
Here's the thing: The tradeoffs you would be getting with a DS just might very well not be worth it. That's what we've been trying to tell you.
That, along with accusing Sue of going looking for posts to find fault with.....make you a highly questionable DS candidate in my eyes. But hey, we could certainly just be misunderstanding you and your posting history.

And by definition, "morbidly obese" means that your obesity is killing you.
So, the answer to your question is YES. Time to spend a whole lot more time on research, if you hadn't stumbled across that fact, yet.
