Hi Guys,
so the constipation has now gone away but I live in fear of it returning. To that end I am going to try and incorporate some more high fat recipes into my meal rotation. Anyone want to post a ridiculously high fat snack/meal concoction?? you would be doing me a huge favor!

Did you add Mag Oxide with every Calcium dose?

I eat popcorn with 1/2 stick of melted butter almost every night.  If I miss too many nights I can tell the difference.

Peanut butter is also pretty fatty.  I also used to eat full fat Fage Greek Yogurt but I can't find it since I moved.

Cream in your coffee?

I'll be watching for other ideas.

Hey Becky, I added Mag oxide but someone else said Citrate was better for making you poop??? Now I'm really confused??

I already use heavy cream in coffee, I eat alot of full fat cheese and mayo. I sometimes wonder if i actually eat enough in terms of volume?? Who knows, going to try and play around with all this till I find the winnning strategy for keeping everything moving lol

I also made some ricotta fluff with velvetty smooth ricotta, cool whip and some hc and sf pudding.

This is what I've learned:

MgOxide helps directs fluid to your bowels, so it makes stool softer / easier to pass.

Mg Citrate helps coordinate muscle movement,  therefore helping bowel motility.

The Mg Oxide is what most folks like to help them go.  I need the Citrate to help me.

I need to lose about 2 more pounds for a normal BMI .  I still seem to be slowly losing at over 2 yrs out...so may get there yet.

Hey ANn, well thats interesting for sure!! Without wishing to gross anyone out, the softness/hardness issue is not a problem, I just dont get the urge to go lately. I wonder if I am actually eating nough volume. This bout of "constipation" conincided with a couple of weeks of low carbing and looking back I think I actually ate less too (although this was not intentional).

I am going to try the mag citrate as the oxide really made no difference to me at all. Do you have a particular brand that you buy??

It's the Country Life 250mg from VitaLady.  It won't hurt ya'.  As Becky mentioned it helps with calcium absorption, too.  And Vitalady has stated that it doesn't seem to do much with blood serum levels, if I recall correctly-someone please correct me if I'm mistaken.

I take one with each of my four calcium doses.  It makes my bathroom time "more productive".  When I stop taking it, I feel full, but it just doesn't want to come out.  I have to really strain and I don't fully empty.  The citrate gives me the "urge" and keeps me from feeling that I have pu**** out.  How's that in the world of TMI.

Good Luck- I hate that not empty feeling.

I know just what you mean about the low carbing and lack of urge to go.  I have to take miralax to be able to go as well...I would throw some fiber into your shakes - I add 4 tsp of benefiber to each shake I make.  I have also been trying to use some fiberous veggies as "vehicles" for fat or protein - carrots/cauliflower with dip.

I would do BOTH mag citrate and oxide to see if that helps some.

Mag Oxide is for poop.  I take 400 mg 6 times a day (with each Calcium dose).

Mag Citrate is for bones.  I take 400 or 500 2 times a day.

 Crab legs dipped in butter
Pork rinds and dip
S/F peanut butter cookies

Now here's my recent INSTANT constipation cure.  TMI alert here:    Kids, please don't try this one at home.  This was way stupid of me:

DH so sweetly brought home some gluten free granola made by a local Amish bakery.    Mmm....I didn't even wait to pour half and half  over it - I just had it plain.   It had brown rice, flax seeds, brown rice, sunflower seeds, etc.     So, I ate that at around 12:30 today.   At about 1:00 p.m. I had about ten pieces of candy - Mary Janes, BIt O' Honey -penny candy kind of stuff.   Yeah, not good - anybody flames me and I'll bite their ear lobe off.   I'm PMS'ing.    Anyway, I digress.....
So I got really thirsty immediately, which sometimes happens to me when I eat a big load of sugar.
Within 20 minutes I wa****ting the toilet.   So, you're talking less than one hour after consuming the aforementioned granola.    So guess what I'm crappin' out?  Flax seeds.    Now, I haven't had flax seeds in months, so I know they're not from yesterday or the day before, or whatever.   They've gotta be from that granola I'd had at 12:30!!   How can that move through my system so fast???   I've been on the loo four or five times since with honest to god diarrhea.      Geeeeez.    The granola/candy must have been some magical combination or something!    My gut currently sounds like the soundtrack from a horror movie.
