Hi Guys,
So I gained about 10lbs from my happy weight of 136 (I like to stay between 136 and 140lbs) and went up to 146lbs!WTF!! through stress eating.
Anyway I have been low carbing and doing OK (Not got on the scale yet as didnt want to get discouraged if no loss, just going to keep doing the low carb thing).

Anyway, I am now horribly constipated darn it!! I have tried a number of things:
Mag Oxide (extra to what I usually take)
Butter drenched popcorn
extra mayo on everything
Drinking more water

So far nothing has worked and I am feeling pretty uncomfortable now.
I can't remember some of the remedies i have heard about on here so can you all chime in with your best anti constipation remedy please before I blow up lol

Miralax in my morning coffee always seems to help me.  Also, Benefiber in liquids.  And If I get desperate and nothing else is working and it's been more than 5 days, Dulcolax- I will take 4 of them.

 1)  Nuts
2)  Salad with lots of fat, especially romaine lettuce or raw spinach.   Veggies with skins, such as zucchini, cukes, etc, dipped in lots of dip.
3)  Soup made with lots of vegetables, especially kale
4)  Adding flax meal - it is low carb, and great fiber, but beware, it gives me terrible gas!
5)  Almond meal pancakes
6)  A good ol' Northern Michigan fish fry.  You can find about four or five of them in every small town up this way during Lent and we make the rounds on Friday nights, LOL.    I'm guaranteed a nice LONG visit on the toilet the next morning!
7)  I am not going to advocate this to the average Joe, but because I take so much calcium, constipation can be an issue for me.    About once a week, I'll really mix it up and eat something particularly horrendous.   Jelly beans.   Ben and Jerrys Ice Cream.    Gumdrops.   Full sugar cheesecake.     This seems to keep things moving along for me and I swear, I see stuff in the toilet I ate four days ago!!!

I have had to add 4 stool softners a day (colace) to my schedule. That has finally helped to soften things up so I can go. Best wishes, I feel your pain.

constipation is most likely due to the ca we take, what helps with that, even with the low carbing is to take mg at a correct proportion to ca in other words 1:2 mg:ca ratio, this is the most important aspect of keeping reguar for us dsers.  you can also us miralax to help, also suggest not taking mg oxide, mg citrate is better and the best is mg glycinate for long term help,  constipation can make you feel so miserable, hope you get relief soon.....

 Here is my secret.

1 tub of full fat sour cream.
1 package of frozen spinach
1 small can of waterchest nuts.
1  package of knor veggie soup (or a powdered salad dressing mix)
couple of dashes of hot sauce

Cook spinach in microwave and squeeze all the water out.  Add to a bowl and break up the clumps of leaves.
Drain water chestnuts and chop them in small pieces

add sour cream and half the package of soup mix well and taste, add more soup mix as you like. add hot sauce to taste.

Let sit in the frig for a hour or two and then eat it with celery. (use the celery like a spoon!)

I find that within 12 hours of eating this, systems are going again.

I think it is the combo of the celery, spinach and hot sauce that works so well.

I have also made this using greek yougurt and it is just as yummy.

Good luck,
