Question for those who were self-pay

Dr. Stewart's price for a Lap DS is $22, 750.  I just spoke with Leah yesterday (his secretary).  It's this same price whether you are having a revision or a "virgin" DS.  This price includes anesthesia, hospital stay, and follow up visits.  You'll have to pay anesthesia, Dr. Stewart, and the hospital with separate cashier's checks ( I used a credit card for anesthesia, because they wanted payment two weeks before surgery).  Total cost for me (and DH) to fly from Denver, CO to Dallas, rent a car and hotel room for recovery was right about $25,000.

Dr. Marchesini in Curitiba, Brazil was my surgeon.  The costs for everything for 2 1/2 weeks (we went early to be tourists) for two people was $19,000.  He is an outstanding surgeon and person and I'd do it again in a second.  BTW-my surgery was done lap.

Dr. Paul Kemmeter (vetted DS surgeon on DSFacts.com), does has a self-pay price for a Lap DS of $21,000 through Saint Mary's hospital in Grand Rapids Michigan.

Airport is less than 20 minutes from the hospital, wonderful city, and the surgeon is top of the line.

All of you pre-op testing can be done with your PCP or local specialists, except those needing done immediately prior to surgery.  Recovery is in a beautiful new  area of the hospital, and then you can stay at a local hotel until you are cleared at 2 weeks (standard for most surgeons).
