Need to Rant!!

So, I decided after the work day from hell, that followed the morning from hell (got so freaking cold that my water line froze coming up from the well), that since the boys had dentist appointments 30 miles away after school we'd just make an afternoon / evening of it.

The kids wanted Pizza Hut for dinner, no biggie, they got the salad bar with cottage cheese and a few other things I could eat so I figured all was good. I get there, and they didn't have anything on their salad bar except cottage cheese, garbanzo beans & shredded cheddar cheese I could really eat. But wait- on the menu they had a chicken alfredo dinner, so I ordered it (knowing the boys would eat some of that as well as the pizza).

The dumb ass waitress never wrote our order down, she just repeated it to us, went back put the order in, brought our drinks and there we sat. No bread sticks for the kids came out, then when she brings out the pizza we asked about the breadsticks, she's like "oh yeah, I forgot", and brought them right out. Along with our bill..... I looked at it, my dinner wasn't on it!!! (course neither was my salad, just Liam's, or the breadsticks.) So, I basically had to sit there and watch my family eat because there was nothing I could eat!!!!!!!!!!!! (except the little bit of cottage cheese/beans/cheese I had grabbed thinking I was getting a regular meal).

I never said anything because by that time 20 other tables had come in and the kids would have been finished before my meal was brought out. So, I ended up going to KFC because I was starving. (have I ever told you how much I hate KFC?) and ordered boneless wings with no sauce. Of which I ate 2. Yup, that's it. Just 2, they didn't settle well and my body does not like it when I eat on the run anymore.

My wonderful daughter called the damn Pizza Hut and *****ed out the manager. She said she was never so pissed as when a waitress couldn't take the time to write an order down and then when a person is sitting at the table and obviously not eating then she should have inquired if something was wrong. When the manager could finally speak, he asked if we had paid cash or charge, she said 'cash', he then asked for our address so he could send us a gift card for twice the amount of our purchase. Oh, and then he asked who our waitress was. So, I'm sure somebody got in trouble tonight.

I totally feel for you. Early on I had problems such as finding food to eat while on the go. I can't comment too much on the waitress..only that I am glad your daughter phoned and complained. I decided after a few times of running into this problem I started to keep things in my purse and vehicle that I could grab in case of a situation where I needed to eat and didn't or couldn't. I put things like slim jims, nuts, ritz crackers(helped when I had upset tummy), beef jerky, protein bars etc. I didn't notice how far out you were from surgery, but hopefully some of these things you may be able to pack around with you... I hope you have a better day tomorrow and best of luck!

 Thanks Denise!

Tomorrow should be a better day. I can eat at home! LOL - it was just one of those damn days where everything that could go wrong did. And my daughter isn't one to usually say anything or take action, but she was really upset. Like last week I took them all to Golden Corral and I wasn't going to eat (I wasn't hungry), and said to me "Mom, be your own advocate, you eat less than a child you should only be charged for a childs meal". The cashier heard her, asked if there was a medical reason for my not being able to eat much and when I said yes, and then explained, she called the manager over and asked if they could just charge me for a childs meal if I wanted to eat. He went for it and gave me a card to carry to their two local locations and said they would both honor it and that I just need to show my card. And, that when traveling I may find others that would honor it too. But, it's something that these two particular locations do and he said not all follow it. How could I not buy dinner then huh?

I think that card is a great idea and you should try to use that whenever you can. That is something I thought about, but never really put into use...maybe I will now. Your daughter is right about you being your own advicate. I found often in the early months it was hard for me to speak up for what I needed, but I just had to tell myself that I was important and looking after myself was important too, so I had to learn to be less fearfull...its that fat mind mentality I think. Anyways, best of luck.

At the point out, I would have just eaten the toppings off the pizza.  Nowadays, I eat the whole piece   or two.....

Hugs!! I totally understand.. the other day my mom took my son and I to Ihop since its pretty much the only place I think I can order something at the moment. I can do very mushy eggs with cheese so I made sure to tell them that I just had surgery and asked for 2 very mushy eggs that were very cheesy with a piece of bacon. I really wanted to try the bacon! Anyhow they bring everyones meal and they gave me pancakes and some other things I couldnt eat so I let them know it was wrong and they fixed it and brought me out a new order and told me to keep the rest of the food. Would have been great if I could eat it lol. Anyhow they finally bring me my eggs and there is no cheese on them and they are overcooked so I again had to complain. It was a real pain.
