Hello this is my seventh week from surgery and I notice my stomach make a lot of noises.

What is the cause, is it something I have to get use to, will it improve or is there something I can do?

Please let me know,

My experience has been that it does improve with time, but it hasn't yet completely stopped.  I'm not sure that it will.  There are still times (though not that frequent now) when my stomach makes those loud gurgly noises.

I just bru**** off as no big deal.  If someone hears, they just think "that skinny chick over there is hungry."  It's so great to be referred to as a skinny chick!    You will be, too!

Sunshine,

My tummy still rumbles at times but not nearly as loudly as when I was early out.  Now it's mostly first thing in the a.m.  and after supper.   It just sounds like the DS working for me.

I get leaky faucet sounds too!! It usually happens if I wake up in the middle of the night to go pee. As soon as I get up I will get rumbling sounds and I will also want to go #2 (I always have to go #2 as soon as  I wake up even if initially it was just to go pee). But the rumbling and leaking faucet tends to happen if I woke up in the middle of the night... kind of like my system wasn't finished "processing" but decides to send the "product" anyway and I can hear it coming down the pipes, lol.

Sometimes I will seriously think maybe one of my parents also woke up and is using their bathroom  'cause I can swear I hear water running, until I realize its MY leaky pipes in action, lol. I will tilt my ear towards my stomach and say "ohh it's me!" That always makes me laugh. Too bad nobody is willing to come to the bathroom with me to hear my leaky pipes at work, I have no idea why  I would think it would be a good bonding experience, lol.

It will always be noisier than it used to be, but it will become routinely more quiet the further out from surgery you are.  I particularly noticed a big improvement around 1 yr post-op.  I think it's bc your tummy has stretched out enough where things can move more easily & produces less noise.

Mine still makes overall more noise than it's used to, but isn't *usually* loud enough to be heard by others amidst a normal volume environment.  Occasionally, it can be quite loud still where others can definitely notice.

It will improve with time. My stomach talks to me once in a while, but usually in a whisper :-). If I eat something it doesn't like, sometimes it talks louder. A couple of times it has commented on something in the middle of class, loudly enough to be heard over the lecture all over the classroom :-p.

(I find that kind of thing hilariously funny, but then again, I kind of have a teenaged boy's sense of humor....)

Hi Sunshine! I'm seven months out and mine still makes croaking, creaking, gurgling noises. I just blame it on tree frogs if it gets too loud.
