Seamonkie, no one is upset with you, and no one is being intentionally harsh. What we are is concerned about you. I'm glad you cleared up the confusion about what operation you are planning, as that caused a lot of the concern. The DS world is small enough that we know who the players are, and your surgeon isn't one of them. So when you posted, on the DS forum, that you were having revision of RNY to DS with a surgeon who doesn't do the DS, that was cause for concern for you.
But there is still a concern - as I understand it, you are having a revision of your RNY to ERNY. Sadly, we've seen the results of that type of revision, and they aren't good. You will be stuck with all the same pouch issues because you will still have your pouch - still may dump, still can't take NSAIDs safely, etc. At the same time, you will have malabsorption similar to what we have, but without the ability to compensate for it by easily eating lots of protein. You will also have all the vitamin and supplement issues of the RNY regarding B vitamins and iron, and will add to that the vitamin issues of the DS with the fat soluble vitamins (A, D, E, and K).
The bottom line is that while you may well lose more weight with the ERNY, it could ruin your health. I hope you will take these comments in the spirit in which they are intended, which is NOT to be harsh or critical, but rather to save you from a world of hurt. You might want to try to contact Joyce in AZ, who went down this road, and eventually had to have yet another operation to convert her ERNY to a real DS, again not for weight loss, but because her health was so bad from the ERNY.
I realize that it's very close to your official date, and you are probably mentally set on that date, but I hope you will be able to step back and reconsider.
