Overcash and Hoddinott work together. Overcash would very likely participate in your surgery and would certainly participate in your aftercare.

Overcash is the one that did my neices...he left her incesion open because he said it was superficial.  Superficial doesn't mean you can fit your fist into the incesion.  But, I guess it is up to each inidividual who they use.  I'm not going to brow beat here and I don't mean to sound as if I am.  I just want people to be aware and safe because lets face it, this is such a life changing journey and we need it to start off on the best possible foot.

Yes her doc was a part of the same practice..she did not die of the cancer...she died because of the lack of intelligence on his and his teams part. Lord knows this woman done her homework but she didn't listen to me when I explained to her that I had previous experience with this crew when my neice got her surgery with them and at Ocala Hospital.   I sent you a PM.  I did get the last of her nic wrong...but Kathy died for nothing...they got the cancer..they just wasn't smart enough to place a G.I. Tube in the right spot, go figure.

I don't think anyone is upset with you. They are upset because of the fact that Dr. H is not known as a DS revision surgeon and if he's giving patients the impression that he's revising them to a DS that is just wrong. It appears that's not the case for you. It sounds as if he's just going to revise your RNY. I live in Ocala and there's no surgeon here that does the DS. People were just trying to advise you to do further research. Best of luck to you.

Seamonkie, no one is upset with you, and no one is being intentionally harsh. What we are is concerned about you. I'm glad you cleared up the confusion about what operation you are planning, as that caused a lot of the concern. The DS world is small enough that we know who the players are, and your surgeon isn't one of them. So when you posted, on the DS forum, that you were having revision of RNY to DS with a surgeon who doesn't do the DS, that was cause for concern for you.
But there is still a concern - as I understand it, you are having a revision of your RNY to ERNY. Sadly, we've seen the results of that type of revision, and they aren't good. You will be stuck with all the same pouch issues because you will still have your pouch - still may dump, still can't take NSAIDs safely, etc. At the same time, you will have malabsorption similar to what we have, but without the ability to compensate for it by easily eating lots of protein. You will also have all the vitamin and supplement issues of the RNY regarding B vitamins and iron, and will add to that the vitamin issues of the DS with the fat soluble vitamins (A, D, E, and K).

The bottom line is that while you may well lose more weight with the ERNY, it could ruin your health. I hope you will take these comments in the spirit in which they are intended, which is NOT to be harsh or critical, but rather to save you from a world of hurt. You might want to try to contact Joyce in AZ, who went down this road, and eventually had to have yet another operation to convert her ERNY to a real DS, again not for weight loss, but because her health was so bad from the ERNY.

I realize that it's very close to your official date, and you are probably mentally set on that date, but I hope you will be able to step back and reconsider.

Nobody is mad or upset at you. We are trying to save you from a bad surgery with a surgeon of questionable abilities and reputation. Use Google to look up sanctions and legal actions against him.

I certainly don't mean to be harsh at all.  Trying to communicate importance and/or emotion is hard to do on a screen.  I wish you the best and many many happy days ahead!
