I"m so glad you found the DS.  Wishing you good luck and a smooth recovery.  Advice?  Sip, walk, sip, rest, and start over.  Take it one day at a time.  Read as much as you can here, get some plans for a solid vitamin regimine.  Stay positive and hang in there.

Who is your surgeon?  Where is your surgery?  Your going to love your DS, and your little girl will have a healthy and happy mom.

I have never heard of this surgeon, Haddinott, doing a DS much less a revision. Please, Please be careful! Revisions are a very complex surgery and there are only a handful of Very Competent revision surgeons and he is not one of them.

I would be very very leery.  Hoddinott used to operate in PA and then retired several years ago after more than one bad outcome (as I recall -- do your own due diligence).  I don't recall that he was a revision surgeon before he retired, I haven't heard of ANYONE being a DS patient of his in years, and now he's offering the most challenging surgery of all of the weight loss surgeries, a revision from an RNY to a DS?

I know you are scheduled for surgery in 4 days, but I hope you have looked up his record, looked for complaints filed, and ASK HIM MORE QUESTIONS ABOUT HIS EXPERIENCE AND EXPERTISE!!

My advice is something you are not going to want to hear: Your surgeon of choice does not have the experience or reputation to be doing a RNY to DS revision. You need to cancel that Wednesday date and do your due diligence in finding out about him. And then you need to get to a real revision surgeon.

Please reconsider your choice in surgeons.  A lovely woman who posted on the Florida forum died earlier this year under the care of this man.

This person is NOT getting a DS.  She is getting the ERNY with a pouch tightening!  And, she says to -- at the end of this thread!  Here is her post on the revisions board:

I am the one who told her to ask on the DS board about the RNY to DS revision, which she originally thought she was getting.  There are a lot of doctors out there who CONFUSE their patients into thinking they are getting something that they are NOT.   Whether or not that is what happened to this person is unclear.

Good catch, SM!  This is going to be one unhappy camper when she realizes that she has the worst of both worlds -- severe malabsorption and STILL having a pouch.
