Your experiences with Reglan?

Here's some backstory on my reflux-since-surgery issue:  http://www.obesityhelp.com/forums/ds/4214191/Serious-reflux-problem-suggestions-Help/

So, Dr. G gave me a prescription for Reglan because my GI test showed that my food is slow-moving.  I asked him about other medications, but he said that Reglan is the only thing that helps with that.

With all the lawsuits and whatnot for Reglan, I'm totally scared to take it!

The vomiting I've experienced has slowed way down, from 2x in 2-3 days instead of 3-5 times every single day.  I'm wondering if I should just suck it up (or chuck-it-out as the case may be  ) and wait to see if this situation will resolve itself.

If you've taken Reglan, how was it for you?  How long did you take it? Did you have side effects?  Would you recommend it to others?

I know everyone's mileage varies...I'm just trying to get a handle on whether or not my terrors are fairly founded.

I knew nothing about the Reglan lawsuits when it was given to me post-PS in November.

I am STILL suffering the side effects from taking Reglan for a month.  I don't know for SURE that it was the source of my problems, but what I went through tracks with what others have said about their problems.  I did NOT have tardive dyskinesia, which is what the lawsuits are about, but I had severe psychiatric symptoms -- panic and anxiety attacks, suicidal ideation, foggy brain and depression.  9 months later, I am still recovering.

I will never take Reglan again -- there are other meds.  From what I have heard, there is another drug that is available in Canada but not yet approved in the US that works.  I can't remember the name of it -- someone will post it, I'm sure.

I beleive the medicine is Domperidone.  My bb was on Reglan and went off of it and now gets this directly from Canada.

I experienced the same exact thing!!  I was given Reglan in the ER once. After a few minutes I felt panicky and needed to leave the room , the ER, the entire hospital. Inside my brain I knew I was being ridiculous but I felt soooo compelled. If there have been an open window I just might have jumped out of it. They had to give me a shot of something to counteract it.

Good grief!  There was just a commercial on, lawyers advertising for people who had bad Reglan side effects to call them.  I have never seen a commercial for Reglan stuff before.  I'm not one for signs but that creeps me out.

I'm not afraid of many medications but I wouldn't take reglan unless you held a gun to my head.

No way. No how.

I hope you will find some other way to address your problems.

After two doses, my legs got jerky. It also says not to take if you have ever had any kind of brain trauma. Well, I have, so that was the end of it for me!

I am hoping Sia sees this.  If not, try to PM her.  She has had a horrific experience with Reglan.

The side effects worried me as well. In the end I took it a few times and it didn't help, so it wasn't a decision I had to make.

I'd try anti-nausea meds (have you?) before I would try reglan, as well as the various homeopathic remedies. In the end, though, if I couldn't stop the vomiting any other way, I would take the reglan and watch for side effects like a hawk.

I've taken it several times over the years for very brief periods, like a day or two, and took it for a month after my DS, with nary an ill effect. So I would take it again. But if I were looking at it for the first time, I don't know what I'd do.
