15/45 minute rule
You are one of the lucky ones who have found this forum where you can learn how the DS is DIFFERENT from the RNY.
Here's just a few examples off the top of my head:
You do not have to limit fluids during meals (except very early on when fluids may fill you up so you would want to get those few bites in instead of fluids)
You do not have to chew your food to death.
You will need to eat enough fat to keep from getting constipated. Again, after you are a bit out. At first fat may not agree with you.
But the IMPORTANT differences are in the area of vitamin and protein supplementation and what labs you will need to have run. You really need to start learning about this NOW. RNY advice about vites and protein could be deadly.

You can use straws, too!
Did you get the DS binder from Rocky Mountain? You know, the one that looks like an RNY binder but has the front cover changed to Duodenal Switch? I think that's about the only difference between our book and "thier book".
Drink/sip often. Like every few minutes. Eat when you can, probably every 3 hours or so. For the first few months I couldn't really drink and eat at the same time, other than maybe a sip of some water if I needed to wash something down. Now I eat and drink together with no issues. It just takes time.

Some of the local DSers swear by the 30/30 rule. I ignored it. I think it is important to follow the rule early out when you're not able to get in much protein, though. Especially before eating. Water takes up space in your stomach that could be used for protein.
I pretty much ignored it, but here I am at about nine weeks out, able to scarf down a pound of cod in one sitting. Have I expanded my sleeve prematurely by drinking with meals from the get-go? I can't say, but I kind of doubt it--I think my surgeon made my sleeve bigger than average. I was able to eat as much at one sitting six weeks out as my friend Dave could eat one year out.
