I post there once in a blue moon. I'm almost 2 1/2 years out and I eat a lot. I always feel a little guilty posting there. I don't ever want to give early post-ops the impression that how I eat works for everyone and some day it might not work for me, but as for now I enjoy eating a very wide variety of foods and it's not all protein Don't get me wrong, I get my protein in everyday but I also enjoy carbs.

This is just my opinion of course, but I'd really like to see what people two or more years out eat for a couple of reasons. One, it gives me hope that my intake will be like that at the appropriate time ****rtainly know that I'm not going to be eating the same way any time soon) and two, we're always touting as one of the benies of DS that you can eat more like a normal person. Yet, when I read the bites and vites, I sometimes think it reads a lot like the food threads on the band and RNY forums, too. :-) So, I wonder what people who are checking us out will think when they read it.
I felt the same way you do. I remember reading some of the vets posts ahead of me and I couldn't believe they were able to eat what they did and maintain their weightloss, but now I'm living it. I also remember how much restriction I had early out and thought I'd spend the rest of my life starving to death....LOL
Here's a basic recap of my day....
coffee with splenda and sf vanilla cream
2 scoop protein shake made with half & half
quesadilla made with shredded ham and sauteed onions and a ton of shredded cheese topped with sour cram and guacomole
mini reeses peanut butter cup, 2 cookies
popcorn with lots of butter
nachos supreme from a local Mexican restaurant....corn tortilla chips topped with ground beef, melted cheese, refried beans, tomatoes, sour cream and guacamole
a few mini marshmallows, 3 cookies and a cup of coffee
double scoop nectar protein shake mixed with crystal light

Wow. Thanks, Renee!
I hate to post duplicates, but I'm going to in this case because I want both you and Kerry to be sure see this. I think it's important for any lurkers to see that someone with a mature DS system really does eat like a normal person. So, whenever you have the time, and you don't mind doing it, will you consider posting on the B&V thread?

Sure! I will also add that I can't eat sugar non-stop. I have to find my balance of how much I can eat and not gain. If I see the scale go up a couple of pounds then I just cut my carbs back some. I think that's about as close to eating like a "normal" person as you can get. It just feels so good to live my life enjoying good food and not feeling the guilt associated with it.

It's funny. I'm one of the regular posters on Bites and Vites, and I agree it has a particular psychology and seems somewhat atypical of this board. The thread seems to draw people, like me, who are having a hard time in one way or other, and trying to walk the DS straight and narrow. I, for one, would really appreciate it if people with more typical post-DS experiences would post regularly. And, I think it would give a more accurate picture to newbies and post-op tweakers.
