You are too funny, dying to sniff me huh?  I don't think you want to...lol.

I have no experience but please keep us posted on how this goes for you.  You will at least have the option to stop taking them, if needed.  I know you were considering the slightly more permanent notion of lengthening your common channel.  A little tougher to undo.
Good luck!

Lori,

I do know one person who has been on pancreatic enzymes since she was about 4 weeks out.  She had her surgery one week after me.  NO WORRIES baby girl....she lost her weight just fine!  She sits below goal now and is still on the enzymes.  She is on enzymes to combat her diarrhea issues.  I've never met a person with the bathroom troubles this particular friend has dealt with.

This said, it hasn't been a week since you've gone off of your iron.  I *really* think it's your oral iron.

BTW, I wanna come over and sniff you too!  =)  Out of curiosity since I've never met a stinky DSer.  Are you sure your friends and family aren't just crazy?  Lol!

Hi Lori,
I'm just going to type in what I'm reading in Earl Mendell's Vitamin Bible, ok?

Symptom: Body Odor

Things that will help: B-12 and Zinc.

Recommended Supplement:
1-2 tbsp acidophilus liquid (flavored) 1-3 times a day
1 chlorophyll tablet or capsule 3 times a day (I read that as something like Devrom)
1 chelated zinc tablet daily (I already take 2, you might be too)
1-2 multiple digestive enzyme tablets 1-3 times a day  (I read that as a good probiotic like Primal Defense Ultra)

Probiotics are not really considered digestive enzyme, even though they do live in the gut, and will eat up goodies.  The pancreatic enzymes is a digestive enzyme.  Another OTC example of digestive enzymes is http://www.gohealthynow.com/product/1836-9   whi*****ludes

Betaine HCl (for proteins)
Bile salt (for fats)
Bromelain (for proteins)
Lipase (contains lactose from milk, for fats)
Alpha-amylase (mycozyme, for starch)
Pancreatin (8xUSP, for all foods)
Papain (for proteins)
Pepsin (1:10,000, for proteins)

Atkins used to market a digestive enzymes supplement to aid in the digestion of all of the protein eaten while on Atkins.

I guess that's my bias and wishful thinking showing. I wouldn't want to take anything that is nearly guaranteed to stop my weight loss.

I know you mentioned earlier this week that you don't eat "that many simple carbs".
From my own experience, it can be only one or two things that make an absolute difference.  If you're truly concerned about taking digestive enzymes so close to the end of your weight loss window and not yet at goal, why not try total elimination of simple carbs for a few days to a week (yes, I know this will be agony and can't even begin to imagine) and see if that doesn't foster any change?  You could then determine truly if it's something you're eating once and for all.

At least that way, you can say you've really, trully tried everything else before resorting to this.
That's what I would do, anyway.
