Peanut Butter and soda

I eat a tablespoon on peanut butter several times a week and I'm way ahead of the EWL curve.  I also have the occasional half glass of diet caffeine free soda poured over ice.  A 2 liter will last me weeks and weeks, though.....I don't drink much of it.

You're taking diet advice from a RNYer -- have we taught you nothing at all?
PPPFFTTTTTTTT

I got my precious diet coke back in my life after about 3 months, but it took a good year to get my addiction back into full swing.

I ate lots of peanut butter - still do.  I love it.  It's a good fat (HDL), so the miniscule amount of fat you're going to absorb from it will only help your body.  RNY advice is going to be different, because they have different needs.

I started drinking soda again a couple of months out, but I had to let it get almost flat before I could drink it comfortably.  I don't drink much of it anymore - it makes me burp ferociously!  I drink more water or iced coffee than anything else.  You don't have to worry about carbonation stretching your stomach - that's a myth.  Take it slow, make sure it's diet soda, and stop if it makes your stomach uncomfortable.  Let it get flat & pour it over lots of ice.

Everyone's given you the low down on PB, so I'll just give my 2 cents on the soda.  I tried soda (diet) for the first time around 3 - 4 months out & it made me burp so forcefully, it was almost painful.  I didn't try letting it fizzle out mostly first.  At one year out, I have only just started having diet soda again - a few/week tops.  I usually get those 6 ounce cans & drink like half - 3/4.  It still makes me burp a lot more than it used to, but not as badly as I initially experienced at 3 - 4 months out.

How have you been doing??  I take it you're back in the states now?
