Peanut Butter and soda
They were probably refering to the fat in the peanut butter. It was something that I ate quite often early out. I would get a spoon and have myself a peanut butter lolipop everyday. LOL
I started drinking carbonated drinks at about 3-4 months out I think it was. They needed to be pretty flat at first. Now they can be 'fresher'. I like them over alot of ice.

My Dr. said to stay away from carbonation all together..its really bad on your pouch and can cause you to feel really bloated and nasty..plus its not good for you and can dehydrate you. better to drink lots of water and decaffinated iced teas..It is hard at first and I know because I miss them more then I expected to also..but it has been worth it to give them up. Im 6 months out and still no sodas or fizzy stuff for me. Hang in there..it does get easier :)

Peanut butter is just one more thing that DSers DON'T have to give up.
In any group of a hundred people, there are probably 2 or 3 sociopaths. In a group of a thousand, more like 20-30. They function very well in "affinity groups," where people have things in common and tend to trust strangers. I am NOT saying not to trust anyone. I AM saying that there are probably two dozen sociopaths hanging out here and looking for victims. Most are NOT serial killers.

Peanut butter is a good protein, but I try to stay away because it's how a lotta carbs sneak into my diet. Cause chocolate is my nemesis, and a few chocolate chips taste soooo gooood with the peanut butter. You can see where that would lead to some bad places, but that's just me.
One thing I would caution you about--early on, well until 4 mos. out really, I could not consume any form of nut without getting blown off the loo a few hours later. Not pleasant. So, just be warned. Otherwise, go for the peanut butter!
I wouldn't recommend drinking much in the way of carbonated beverages early out, because they can irritate your tum and intestines. I drank flat or very iced diet Coke at maybe a month out. Not much, just a few sips. I drink some occasionally now, but it's lost its hold on me. At nearly a year out, I still have to let it sit for a few minutes, the carbonation is a bit much for me. Definitely a YMMV thing.

At first I couldn't have either of those things. I couldn't tolerate much.
Now, over two years later I can eat peanut butter at will. And soda, well before surgery I loved, loved, loved diet soda, any and all kinds. Now, I don't drink much - because I just don't want it. And if I do have some, it's got to be regular now. Odd, and I don't understand why really.
