Did a surgery war open your eyes to the DS? If so, post to this thread.
Diana,
I have been following your posts as well as others on this board for a couple of years. I had my DS 6 months ago (down 92 lbs as of today) and I love it.
I had a close friend get the RNY a year before my surgery (he was over 400 lbs) and he still hasn't broken the into the 200s. Another friend of mine swore by the lapband -- helped him lose more than 100 lbs -- but he really doesn't "eat".
I can't begin to tell you all how much of a difference this board has made in my life -- both pre and post op. It was instrumental in guiding me to the right surgery for me as well as deciding on a surgeon.

Yes, a surgery war on the main board made me aware of the DS. I was actually taken aback, but the more I researched, the more I wondered why anyone would pick the RNY or band when the DS was an option. Mind-boggling!
When DS'ers pay it forward it HAS to be loud to get through all the crap that's out there. Loud, aggressive, and off-putting, perhaps to a sensitive soul. But then again, if you can't take the heat of a surgery war, then maybe you don't have the balls to be an effective advocate for yourself after a DS. Maybe it IS natural selection! Who knows! But I, for one, am so grateful for that day.
