15 mo's ~ uh-oh's!!

I need a kick in the butt!!

I lost 140lbs in about 10 mo's or so.  But the last 5 months I really haven't lost anything.  Yeah, I pretty much know why.  I've let all kinds of carbs and sugar creep back in when my appetite suddenly returned with a vengence.

Now I've got to get back to basics!! I have about 40-50 lbs left to lose and I'm 15 months out.  I haven't gained any weight, even with the crappy eating I've been doing for months.  But I have a feeling that may change if I don't!  What I have noticed lately is that my body is ... shifting.   The scale says I haven't gained anything but my pants are tighter around my mid-section and my tummy looks bigger to me.  Weird.   Would like to hear comments on this!

Just out of curiosity - a PS makes you wait 6 months of maintaining your weight before they will do a LBL or remove a panni, right?  So I've stayed the same for almost 5 months now... how bad would it be if I wanted to remove my panni then lose the rest of the weight?  Probably not a good idea is it??  well, just throwing that out there....

I'm jealous of all you who have gone down, down, down in clothing sizes!!  You would think having lost 140lbs that I would have gone down more than a small handful of sizes.  But alas, no.  I'm still in 1 and 2X clothing!  And I'm at 199lbs.  I think if my panni comes off I will probably go down 2-4 sizes just from that.  That's the only reason I was even considering going ahead and doing it now.   But I guess I can wait - it will give me incentive to keep losing right??

Sorry about the rant everyone, but I really needed to unload and you are the only people *****ally understand!!  I love you guys!

Well, first of all - 140 is great!   You're on the home stretch now.    I'm assuming that since you went to Mexico you are a self-pay.   That's a lot of money to spend to just make it to the home stretch, dontcha think?     I don't know how much of the sugar/carb-y stuff you are eating, but if it's enough to stop your weight loss in its tracks, it's probably a lot.   This surgery is very forgiving....but I can guarantee you that even though you're not gaining now, you're going to in a year or so.  Even if you don't make it to goal, getting back on track and eating what you know you're supposed to be eating is going to help you maintain a bit better in the long run.
For me, carbs beget carbs - the more I eat, the more I want to eat.     I ate a ton of sugar while on vacation recently and gained easily.   I'm trying to detox from that these days.   When I lose my five pound gain, I'll see about judiciously adding some treats in, but till then, I'm trying like hell to stay on track.  It's hard!
I made some of this up the other day to help me with my sugar cravings and I am hooked on this stuff:
Thelma Salad
Carton of cottage cheese - full fat
Carton of S/F Cool whip
Box of any flavor Sugar Free jello
You can put the cottage cheese in the blender if you don't like the lumpy texture.   Mix the cottage cheese, Cool Whip and jello packet together.   I made it with cranberry jello and added chopped walnuts.   This stuff if FILLING and crave busting.  My DH laughs at me because I eat a few tablespoons of it darn near every time I walk past the fridge.   It's good with lime jello - or cherry jello - or hell, any jello.  And I don't even like jello!

Ohh, I like that.  I can't stand the ricotta fluff texture.  This seems like a good alternative.  I'm imagining all kids of protein-y add ins too..  Hmmm.  Pistacios?  Pecans?  etc.

Thanks Julie!

Julie, this recipe reminds me of a retro jello recipe that my mom used to make!  I loved it!  This is an awesome suggestion!  Thank you!

yeah, I was self pay in Mexico.   It's nice to have some encouragement even if you know what you are suppose to do!  Thanks!!  :)  I am starting to think about down the road so it's nice to hear your stories.

I don't really care for the ricotta fluff too much either and I hate jello.  But I do like cottage cheese!  I think I will give this a try!
