Pooped my pants.......in TJ Max TMI
I've had a few "never trust a fart" moments, and once, after a day of shameless eating, had one in my sleep. Never the full monty, mind you, but enough to cause distress. I'm relieved that now this is a true rarity. I can't remember the last time it happened, as a matter of fact. Our bodies do seem to adjust. I've had many "I gotta go NOW" moments too, but it's been because I ignored my body's signal that I had to use the bathroom. If I become real farty, especially later in the afternoon, that's usually a sign that I need to take a good poop. I've learned not to ignore that fartiness!

I'm really sorry you and all others *****sponded had to have such a situation.
I've not had my surgery yet and from all that I've read about the poop and related issues, I'm really worried about the bowel aspect(s) of the DS. No one knows what *their story* will be until they actually have the surgery.

Fuddy,
This type of thing can happen with any surgery that messes with your intestines. I have a few links to RNY'ers posts about this very same thing if you are interested. It really isn't a DS specific issue.
I have never had a DS accident but I did have a few pre-op from my IBS which seems to be totally resolved since surgery.

Ronda,
Yep, I know how it feels. I had a more than a few accidents before my DS and some after. I think it's been more when I'm on Flagyl as it really loosens up the bowels getting rid of all the bad juju. It has gotten better the farther out I get. I do know where a lot of bathrooms are in the stores that I frequent. But some don't have public restrooms, then I'm screwed. Having a spastic colon doesn't help either, but I've learned to breathe through the spasm. Don't move, don't try to walk to the restroom, just wait it out then hurry. Sometimes there's just no help - sugar alcohols or lactose can really set me off. Yep, it's a humbling learning experience.
