lol..It is pretty much the same thing as pork sausage ...it is made with the scraps...they do boil down the head to get the meat off.. but that is no different then boiling down a ham bone for soup...it just has different spices than a Italian sausage and it is made into a loaf.. If you like sausage, you will like scrapple.

I agree, pan fried scrapple is the best! It is a local thing here in Delaware. I like it sliced thinner than a 1/4" and fried to a crisp on both sides. If you have a deep fryer, it is made that way as well but I prefer the pan fried way. Good luck and tell us how you like it!

Exactly as you would cook Spam.   Cut it in slices, and then pan fry / sear and eat.

I always dredge mine in flour and fry it in canola oil until it's got a crunchy shell.  DH likes his sliced thick, because then he'll ma**** up with a couple of fried eggs and give it a good glug of tabasco and eat it with toast.  I like mine crispy.  I grew up on this stuff.  Eyelids & ******** but it's mmmmm, mmmmm good!

As a child I loved scrapple.

Then my older brother told me what was in it.

I never ate it again.

But my head still remembers how delicious it was !  I just can't get over the mental knowing  of what's in it.  I would never survive on Survivor Island due to my so many mental food adversions.

The same thing happened to me when eating tripe.  Was really good but then someone told me what it was.  Never had it again.

Wish this happened with cakes, pies, chocolate, ice cream etc  :)
