Being a DSer and Being able to research
Thanks!
Yeah, I've read back for 2 weeks to get information on the DS site. That's how I found out so much!! There is a lot of valuable information if you look for it, and people get sick of posting the same thing over and over. I try to ask questions that I don't see the answer to (well as far back as I've managed to get so far), but I didn't know about the google search feature - so I'll try that too.
Thanks again for helping!

Hey look someone probably wanted to ***** slap me when I was a newbie, because I cried like a baby that I couldn't eat as much as other people...and couldn't drink water, and waaaahhh waaahhh waaaaahhhh. Surgery is stressful, emotional, and down right sucky. We are here to support newbies, and new post ops and eachother as vets, but it makes it a lot easier to do when the same question is not asked everyday by a different person.
I spent my first few months as a preop just lurking, I didn't even become a member of OH until just around the time I had surgery, because all of my questions were being answered on the daily threads, all I had to do was read.

Do you really believe that if your post is not on the first page it won't get read? You are showing us how you utilize this forum. If you are seeking information it is most likely going to take a bit of time and the click of a few buttons to get you where you want to be.
Like Scott, I lurked for quite awhile before actually posting. What I did was started at the very last page and READ every single post and the responses. I did this for MONTHS! You are welcome to look at my posting history...I am going to tell you now that you are going to find less than 10 (quite possibly 5) posts that I started to get a question answered. I have had my Ds for more than a year now. I can guarantee you that if you took the time to read what other people are posting and saying you are going to be hard pressed to find a reason to post a question. They may not word it as you would have, but the answers are still going to be there. Get over the fact that you may not see your face down the front page of posts because the only thing you are accomplishing is making the seasoned vets want to avoid you. Just sayin'.

Let me clarify
I said : *this will eventually fall off the front page never to be seen again.
THIS meaning : THE THREAD/TOPIC/SEARCH INSTRUCTIONS.
How/why in the world you thought I was talking about myself ( I mean truly, it's astonishing) I'll never figure out. Some of you really have some weird thinking and reacting going on.
I'm so outta here. I have things to do, things to learn. I don't need to be spending another minute explaining myself to those who want to having ******g contests.
To whom it may apply:
Fuddy's siggy line"My posts are for the purpose of my gaining the information I need as I approach my DS surgery sometime in March/April. If something I write offends you, remember your reaction is your choice. Use the block button if my posts upset you OR if you have the maturity, you can PM me OR better yet, use some of your DS self control and simply don't open any of my posts. If my being here is that much of a problem for you then CONGRATULATIONS ~ you have a blessed life as most people have TRUE problems and issues in their lives and can't be bothered with such trivial complaints as are being made regarding myself and/or my posts/questions"
Even at 4 years out, I spend hours a week researching and reading the forums (not only on OH) to keep up to date with the latest info about the DS, WLS, and nutrition. It is not a one shot deal. If you cannot spare enough time to read back a few pages, then WLS (any kind) is really not for you. Honestly, you will end up hurting yourself in the long term. They say a little knowledge is a dangerous thing, and in the case of the DS it is a deadly thing.

And it doesnt take a rocket scientist to read up a few posts and see how to search a forum as well as the general idea to bookmark information. As I mentioned yesterday as well...these continued repeat posts as well as impatient or defensive replies are going to get you no where. Soon many of the valuable vets will begin to pass your posts by or read them and not comment any longer leaving you with only the few who are further out and still dont quite get what it takes to be their own best advocate.
Pre ops and newbies...please, just take the time to read and reread then once again read more posts, do your own research and if or when you need further explanations then ask questions. Its always good to ask questions, but even better when you have done some research to know a little about what your asking first. Really there is no need to become afraid to post your questions...just be as knowledgeable as you can first so those who offer the help can help where needed.
