I want anyone considering the option of the DS who is a lightweight to know that as a lightweight my DS life is now pretty boring.

I had a few rough weeks post-operatively (my surgery was totally normal) but now that I am 7 weeks post op nothing unusual or dramatic is going on.

The Bariatric Advantage calcium chews caused a lot of gas and as soon as I quit taking them the gas went away.  My poop does not smell.  I poop in the morning and am done for the day.

I am eating OFTEN since my meals are small.  I LOVE bringing take home boxes home from restaurants and getting 2 or 3 meals from one trip to a restaurant.

I was out of town living in a motel room for 4 nights last week and lost SEVEN pounds while I was away.  That was very unexpected and very rewarding.

I'm only 7 weeks out and am only 35 lbs from my goal weight.  The BEST thing of all is that I have no problem giving away my clothes as I UNDERgrow them as I KNOW this weight is not coming back.  This is the biggest difference from any other time I have ever lost weight in my life.  No more YO-YOing for me, EVER.

Today I have eaten sausage, hot wings, salad and steak with some peanuts for a snack.

I'm THRILLED with my DS and feel like the LUCKIEST woman in the WORLD.

Yay for boring.

While I generally refuse to refer to myself as boring (I mean I might be but no need to announce it to the world) for the sake of DSers I will tell you about my boring DS life.

I take my vitamins...day in and day out. They aren't bad, they are just part of life, just part of who I am...yawn. Along with that, every 3 weeks I organize said viatmins. Yup, settle down with a big box of vitamins and empty containers and fill away...

I eat. Protein first but then some yummies. Today's yummies included a candy bar and cupcake.

I don't workout much beyond running up and down the stairs, or walking my dog. But I love to walk now whereas before I hated to go even a block or two. When I do work out I love to lift so my arms look cut and my body is a little more svelt.

I flirt, well I try until my natural shy girl comes out.

I go to the bathroom and my gas is potent but it last for about 15 minutes a day, same time I used to have it pre-op ~ it was smelly then too.

Oh and I get annoyed at my wardrobe. I spent so many years just buying whatever covered me, I allowed that to continue and now I have to acquire pieces I love to fill my big closet.

Yawn

Great idea!

I'm Mrs. Boring DSer from Boringville.  No problems, no intolerances, no regain, no drama.  I take my vitamins, eat my protein, and get my labs done at least once a year.

I'm wearing the same clothes I was wearing 2 years ago - they're still in style and they're in great condition: the inseams aren't rubbed threadbare from my ginormous thighs and there aren't any stains on my shirts from my boobs and belly "catching" falling food.

I eat like a normal-sized woman: smallish portions of real, unengineered foods.  Of course, I eat like a normal-sized metabolically-gifted woman: I don't worry about fat and only really watch the sweets and starches that I eat.  Even then, I don'****ch them very closely anymore unless the scale tells me things I don't like.

My DS has been a great gift to me.

 Bronwen,
You made me laugh.  The pants with the holes, the shirts that are trashed, all my reality.

Believe me when I say that they were mine, too, for years.  This, too, shall pass with your DS, Diane!

Another boring DS peep here.

Never a food intolerance.  Rarely have any gas/GI issues.   Religious about my supplements and have great labs. Down 160 lbs. and living and loving my new life.

I'm an educated DS'r who understands supplementation for a malabsorber enough to be a advocate for myself.  I don't take the word of a doctor, nurse or other medical professional as the gospel without my own research to back it up.

I've already run 3 Half Marathons and have my first Full Marathon this coming Sunday.   26.2 miles baby!  Who would have thought I would thought I could become an endurance athlete when I was 341 lbs.?   Not me.   I love my DS.

Tom

 Tom,
You are truly inspirational! Your running is contagious. I'm still working on walking further and more regularly. I plan on starting the couch to 5 K in another month or so. I can only hope to have half of the success you have had.

Please let us know how the marathon goes for you.

You are NEVER boring, Tom! In fact, I think you have morphed into something of a DS superhero.

Good luck on the marathon--I know you'll do great! Make sure you post some pix of you crossing that finish line, baby!

All extremities crossed as I write this post so as to not jinx my future...

Hi there, my name is Lauren and I'm a painfully boring DSer!  I had an easy, uncomplicated surgery, an uneventful recovery and steady weight loss except for one 3 week stall.  I eat what I want bu****ch my white flour and dairy intake (lactose intolerant since surgery) otherwise I'll have noxious gas that could peel the paint off my walls.  I poop a few times in the morning and my stools are normal and solid.  I have 2 scoops of protein powder in my coffee every morning and take my vitamins most of the time.  My iron is closely watched by my hematologist since my numbers were low pre-op.  My 6 month labs were great and even my A & D went up to normal levels from my 3 month labs.

I now eat to live, I no longer live to eat.  I don't obsess over food because I know I can have what I want within reason.

My 1 year surgiversary is approaching on January 29 and as of today, November 17, I am 11 lb  from my goal weight and a normal BMI.  I am currently wearing a Size 6 Petite in pants and a Size 8/10 in tops.  My bra size went from a 44 D to a 36 B.

I think I may have an umbilical hernia and I know I already have Diastasis Recti, both which will get me my much needed tummy tuck in the near future.

I do yoga twice a week and walk 3.5 miles 3-4 times per week.  I would never be able to do this as a pre-op.

The DS is the best thing I could have ever done for myself!  I Love My DS!

Lauren J.
