I love all the DSers who speak out, even when it makes them unpopular.  WLS is not a popularity contest and the stats and studies DEFINITELY matter, so the people who can bring forth evidence impress me.  I don't think DS is right for everyone but it was totally right for me, and I would have really struggled (aka FAILED) with pouch rules.  So thank you to those who pay it forward.

Me, Me, Me!!!  A surgery war brought me to the DS forum, where I found out that the DS had a 98% cure rate for diabetes.  So, I started reading everything I could find out about the DS, as I was only going to settle for the DS.  When I decided to fight Kaiser, Diana was terrific, helping me modify my DS request, and IMR.  I was able to meet both Diana and Larra at their user group meeting.  With help from both of them, I won my IMR and am greatly appreciative, that Kaiser paid for my surgery.  Diana was banned from OH at the time, but she was very active on duodenalswitch.com.  There were several others here during that time who were very helpful from LeaAnn, Lola, AA, Red, Hayley, Lori, plus more... The knowledge that is on this board is absolutely amazing.  Thank you to all who continue to play it forward for those that are trying to learn about WLS.  The biggest though is getting out correct information.  Many thanks!!!

One of the first things I read was a post by Diana that was linked to someone else's profile.   I contacted that person thinking it was Diana and made a friend.  I have found Dr. Cox's insights very helpful.   The fact that she understands the research and can substantiate her positions with solid peer-reviewed research sets her apart from most people here.   Having a somewhat similar background, I appreciate what she is doing and feel comfortable in relying on her work for my own information.

I only wish I had come across her and this site before my insurance carrier pushed me into a lapband back in 2006.   I might have been spared the pain and travail of undergoing 2 revision operations.

Peace,

William
