That was a year ago, right about NOW! Oh my gosh, ALL of you guys just FEED my soul! I wish I were with you now. I had THE best time that weekend!

Diana and Larra have kept me healthy, have kept me sane, have kept me in line (believe it or not).

But, it was YOU who pointed the way to Dr. Ungson and gave the info and encouragement to allow me to be brave enough to go there alone. And, YOU are the one to turn a blind eye (or give me private applause) when I get out of line.

I really benefited from the information you put out as well.  I remember in particular you making the statement that a reader should glean good information even if they don't like the way it's presented  (I'm paraphrasing - I don't remember exactly how you said it).  It seems so simple, and yet every day, or every time there's a surgery way, there are idiots who claim they wouldn't have a DS because of the way they're spoken to in a thread.  WTF????  I guess it's difficult for some to separate logic and emotion?  I just don't get the faulty logic.  But I guess if someone wouldn't get a superior surgery because of the way someone who had that surgery spoke to them, then maybe they don't need the responsibility of the supplementation requirement either.

So thank YOU too, for all your help.

Anytime.  And, I really do mean that.

There are just so many different personalities and perspectives on public message boards, and if I attempted to make every single person reading happy about the way I presented the message, well how effective would that be?  Plus, I guess I tend to give people a lot more credit than some even give themselves -- we are adults and I don't feel the need to dumb things down or play nice for people to comprehend.  And, frankly, I (which is the case for so many people here to share what they know) don't have the time to write things in any other way than how we communicate.

Yea, the people that I really really get a kick out of are those who say they are glad they didn't get / won't get the DS because it obviously turns us into nasty bitter *****es.  Ummm, OK, that is logical and oh such a valid reason to not consider your long-term health first & foremost.

I first started looking at the DS board because of a posting from Diana Cox and after hearing that there was a Dr. that was doing DS at the Army Medical Center that I am going to.

I am grateful for all I have learned not only on the DS board, but also even through the posts on the so called WLS "Wars." These have continually supported my decision to have the DS. I do respect that people should do what they feel is best for themselves, but also see why those that have had the DS want to share their success with others. So many people that are making such a life changing decision don't even know that the DS is an option. Thankfully you people are out there spreading the news.

The fact that you are not Doctors pushing people toward the surgery that they specialize in and looking for monetary gain is a seller to me. Since no  one is making money letting other know about the DS makes me know that you are only doing it because you believe so strongly in this surgery.
While I learn a lot from the so called wars, at the same time I do find them very annoying. -Why so much segregation in WLS folks. We should all be beyond that and get along. I can understand people wanting to share what they believe to be best. It is nice to see that is what I find from those sharing insight on the DS.

Today I was at a support group and hearing all of the stories from the RNYers about the dumping, not being able to eat much, getting food stuck, etc. and was so glad that I will not face that with the DS. It all sounded so miserable.

I know that I will have challenges to face once I have the DS surgery, but it seems that one can live a much more pleasant life. It is nice to know that we do not have to continually punish ourselves for being human and liking food.

Until I have had surgery and have lived with it for a while I am not sure that I can say it is the best, but I anticipate that it will be.

Thank you all for educating me,
Michele

I'm sitting on the revision to DS dock from RNY, didn't know about it back then but I do now.  I was looking for help, to save my sorry ass and I found great info as well as a gift of hope.  And that is a huge gift to give someone feeling so helplessly lost and defeated.  Thanks to all who keep posting and taking the message to the front lines.  I am one who is using that info now. :)

I'll testify!  I didn't even know the DS existed until I read a reply to someone on the RNY board that mentioned it!  I'll be forever grateful for their care and concern in passing the "good word"...now, somebody, please pass the bacon!

Absolutely without a doubt they have helped me.  Always there to HELP!

I believe they are misunderstood because they have strong personalities.  I like it because they say what they mean and mean what they say.  LOVE IT!

These ladies deserve much respect and recognition for all of their continued efforts to pay it forward.

It was because of all of the passionate flame throwing DSers that I changed from an RNY,  SO a BIG thank you goes out to all of you guys from me!

You don't have to like their style but  you must agree that their are quite a few very intelligent people on here that know their *#@%.   I say KUDOS!

Getting excited about my future!  God is AWESOME!
