Considering a second sleeve

I think that if properly motivated your surgeon could probably make a good case for a revision.  But you will have to get the surgeon on board and that may prove difficult.  Also bear in mind that a revision may not be coded the same as the DS.  If that is the case then perhaps it would not appear to be any different from some other gut surgery.

Red, you are a sly fox.  The nurse I talked to yesterday was adamant about Medicare not paying for a revision.  However, what you said makes sense.  She wanted me to send my operative report and I've done that.  She meets with the docs on Wednesday to discuss.  So we shall see.

Thanks for all of your help.  I sincerely appreciate it.

By the way do you know of anybody who has had a resleeve?

I do not recall.  This would be an excellent question to post on the DS yahoo group as it has a wider reading audience.

Sorry you are having troubles...

I read somewhere that the part that is left of the stomach is very strong tissue and that it was hard to stretch out a ton. Yes there will be stretching but it would be hard to stetch it out a ton. Do you know how big your stomach was left?

Best of luck!!! :)

3 oz is not very big.  Mine is 5-7 ounces and I'm having no problems losing (so far).  I would track intake on Fitday or something like that, and see if there are carbs hiding in there.  I'm very sensitive to carbs and when I was keeping them around 50-60g, I lost very slowly, even at 5 months out.  When I dropped them to 30 g, the weight started coming off faster.  Maybe you are very carb sensitive.

Whew, 30 is very low and I don't think I can do that at 15 months out.

I'm just thinking that if you had a big stomach, I might understand getting resleeved, but you were given a small stomach and a short common channel.  I don't see a lot of room for revision.

lol, love the visual. but seriously how much is alot?

do you feel like you have to eat often.. all day like? or can you eat alot in one sitting eating without really taking breaks? Can you give an example of a meal? (curious now..but really wanna try and help you avoid another surgery)

I know with me, i can get alot more in if I am doing alot of carbs and not dense protein. When i do protein first and then complex carbs (say potato or rice) I get full fast...I can eat a 1/2 sandwhich only if its heavy on the meat but  a whole if it is say just cheese.

Posting on the food and fitness board for a bit might help.

**still chuckling about the field hand comment** :) some days i can eat and then be ravenously hungry again 20 minutes later...days like that typically result in weight loss the next day...

I get hungry about every 2 to 3 hours.  There are days when I don't eat that frequently but normally I do.

I think I just eat a lot...like for a snack, I'll have a pretty good sized serving of tuna fish and cheese.
