Considering a second sleeve

Each set is 45-60 grams of carbs, more or less. I learned carb counting as part of diabetes school in Germany back in the late '80's. They didn't use the exchange system for diabetic diet stuff like was popular here in the USA for so long.

Diana, I have no idea why she posted this...just ignore it.

Elizabeth (and Betty): where did you come up with that list of meals?  Is that something Betty says she ate on a particular day?  Because that is SOOOO NOT a proper DS diet, ESPECIALLY for someone who is supposed to be in the weight loss phase.  I don't have time to track this down, but I don't want ANY pre-op or newbie to think this is even REMOTELY a proper DS diet.

That is a RIDICULOUSLY insufficient amount of protein and a RIDICULOUSLY large amount of carbs.  Bread??  Bagel???  Oatmeal??  Carby veggies??? (carrots, corn, peas, rice, lentils, potato???)  Carbs are the MAJORITY of the calories listed!!  Even if Elizabeth listed just the carb-containing food you were eating, and not the protein, what I see there is WAY off the charts too many carbs.  No reputable DS surgeon should even consider re-sleeving you, self-pay or otherwise, if this is what you are eating.

Diana,

Elizabeth made that list.  I DO NOT eat like that at all.  I'm a steak and salad girl.  Sometimes fish, cheese and all the good stuff we are supposed to eat.  I have no idea what her point was...but I sure as hell don't eat that stuff.

Do you know if Medicare will pay for a resleeve?  I swear I can't find it...it is driving me batty.

Nope nope nope, I should have been more clear: Those are some random examples of approximately 50 grams of carbs per day.  Sorry to be confusing. I have a hard time believing that anyone can "eat like a horse" and consume only 60 grams of carbs per day. That's what I was trying to communicate.

A day for me is usually like this:

Two pieces of low carb toast
Then later two eggs and abut two or three sausages

Then a snack of tuna or salmon almost a 2/3 cup
Some cheese cubes and maybe black olives

Lunch is usually a couple of roll ups or a frozen chicken dinner...you know the kind you are supposed to add noodles to, but I don't add anything.  Lately, I've been eating jerk or pulled pork with diet barbeque sauce.

Then maybe a snack...nuts or something

Dinner is steak, 1/2 a baked potato and a salad.

Sometimes I have strawberries and splenda with whipped topping.

Sometimes I have low carb pancakes with maple syrup made with Splenda...have to limit the syrup because it has carbs...can you believe that carbs?

See, I told you I eat a lot.

I know I need to exercise and maybe I will.  I know I MUST exercise and I will.  Does that sound better?

I see I was right about one thing. BB is not being realistic about the amount of carbs she consumes.

Here is another thing: BB does not eat like a horse. BB's thinking is skewed.

Betty-
Have you spoken with your surgeon?

No, I haven't.  I am trying to find the Medicare part that says you can't have but one surgery...do you know where that is?

I'll call Dr. Buchwald Monday and see what he says.

I went through the decision memo and did not find anything about revisions.  I think much will depend on whether or not you still meet the medicare requirement of BMI > 35% with at least one co-morbidity and whether or not there is an issue with your surgery.  But what do I know, I am not a medicare expert.  Let me know what Buchwald says.
