EXCRUCIATING pain from hemorrhoids. Please help! TMI

This doesn't make ANY sense to me.  An anal fissure or thrombosed hemmorhoid does not have ANYTHING to do with your DS.  Loose poops may irritate these conditions, but are not the cause.  The DS didn't come within FEET of your rectum/anus, and there is no reason you can't be referred directly to a colorectal specialist.

What "equipment" is she talking about??  The only thing I know of is a clear plastic "butt speculum" that opens the butt hole and lets the doctor see what's what.  And maybe a light.

The Urgent Care doc is a jerk, passing the buck because you aren't going to die from this, and not caring about your pain.  Are you saying she didn't even look to see if you had a thrombosed hemorrhoid??

She said that she didn't have the "equipment" to diagnose me like x-rays or ct.  In my head I was going, "wtf do these have to do with anything?"  I now think that she was one of the docs who wouldn't touch me that she so thoughtfully informed me of.  I'm beginning to think that I should not mention my DS to any doc regarding this situation.

No, she didn't look.  She offered to, but said that she probably really couldn't "properly" diagnose me anyway.  So I told her that I would be happy to have the exam IF she could then prescribe something for the pain.  She said that she couldn't guarantee it b/c she didn't know what she was dealing with.  So I said that I would rather wait for an exam from someone who could help me.  Why the hell would I want her finger up my butt for nothing????  (sorry so graphic)  It's so frustrating.  I'm looking forward to talking to Dr A's office tomorrow for some help.  And getting some AnalEaze.

Oh my freakin' gawd, what an annoying, idiotic urgent care doctor!  And to think the you have to pay for that kind of treatment!

I am so sorry you are suffering from this.  Add to that the unpleasant idea of going to the Urgicare for nothing but embarrassment.

Just know that you are not alone.  Many of us have been there and done that, too.  The idiota doctor you saw is totally wrong, and apparently too lazy to even bother to understand that a DS has little or nothing directly to do with external pooper pain.  What crap, that she couldn't treat your pain.  Complete and total BS!

Hoping you get some relief from some of the suggestions posted.

I've been through this and am past the pain part, for the moment and phew, thank goodness.  Still working on the not straining part - how the heck did you do that???   I need to get some ideas on how to handle the after effects -- fodder for a future TMI post, I guess.

rapid healing vibes - d2k

Let me start off by saying that I have NOT had WLS, so bear that in mind....... (And yes, this does have to do with gluten, for those of you who are tired of hearing about it - please no snarky comments; I'm just offering a possible option)

You may be sensitive to gluten - especially in light of some of your co-morbidities.  If you are, and any of the foods and/or supplements that you are currently eating / taking have wheat, barley (malt extract), and/or rye in them, that MIGHT be causing some of your constipation.  If there is ANY way to avoid those ingredients, you may be able to find some relief.  I don't know how long it would take, but I would be willing to bet that it won't take terribly long.

As I said, I have not had WLS, so I am unfamiliar with the foods that are recommended post-surgery, and I also don't know which fiber supplements are suggested.  I am sure that there are at least SOME of them available that are gluten-free; you might want to give them a try for a couple of weeks (if possible) and see if that helps.

I am in NO WAY suggesting that you should not see a doctor - given the amount of pain that you are having, you definitely need to have a doctor take a look and see what is going on.  I am merely suggesting that you try this IN ADDITION to seeing a professional - it might prevent more constipation down the line.

BTW, I learned about gluten issues because our youngest daughter was diagnosed with Celiac Disease a year ago, and I was found to have it not long after that (our entire family has been gluten-free for the past year).  Gluten consumption is known to cause constipation in some people who are sensitive to it.  It is possible that this may be what is happening in your case.

I hope that you are able to find some relief very soon -

Thank you for your response.  I am familiar with gluten intolerance and Celiac's, but do not consume any gluten at all since having my WLS.  Benefiber is wheat based, but my problem started way before I started taking Benefiber, so I do not believe this is the case.  I wi**** was.  It would be a simple enough cure.  :)
