Oh me, oh my, what shall I do, now i have to get ....

serious because , I have a date! Yes, really, finally.  It is May 19th!  Whoo hoo for me!  Dr. K said it is a go. I may have to retake a test or two and probably get requalifield from the psychologist or he can just send a note that everything is fine. They are waiting for Secure Horizons to call them back and they will let me know what it is I need to redo. Shouldn't be any problem. I know the insurance approved me last time within a month so hopefully everything will be done, and I have to get my PCP to send in my blood work so they have something to gage on. Can you believe it?   I think that is enough jumping and dancing now.

Did some of you read the post I posted last night about the carbonation?, Dr. K advises us NOT to drink any cause it can cause a hernia or twisted bowel? That puts a damper in my plans as I like to drink Pepsi Max to help me stay awake at work cause of my sleep apnea. My boss has caught me a few times sleeping at my computer and the diet pepsi max really helps. Has anyone else been told that?

At the support meeting last night, I felt like I knew a lot of information they were telling the people and I have all of you to thank for such good information. I knew about the vitamin D, though did not mention how much I am taking. Iknew about the calcium citrate and how much. I asked about their opinion about probiotics and Flagyl and the bariatric coordinators said they are a godsend so I should have no problems getting those. I had an updated list of 25 questions to ask Dr. K at my appt today and he answered them all. He does an estimate of 10% for the CC and about a 3 oz stomach I think he said, or was it 4? Ok, I will find out. Yes, I do get a binder right after surgery, pain medication as warranted. I should only have to be in Delano for maybe a week total, hospital for 3 or 4 days and another 3 or 4 days in the motel if everything goes well. I shall pray to a higher power.

Oh yeah, because of updated instruments or procedures, Dr. K is again doing lapbands. He started last summer I think. He found something that works, Alrighty then. whatever.

Oh yeah, at the meeting last night, ran into a gal I went to high school with back in Michigan. Dr. K did her DS back in March '05 and she loves the man so I just love to add everyone's testament to how well people praise this guy, and I am so very happy that I stuck with him. Oh yeah, he has not once ever not completed a full DS from a failed GB. He does laser treatment to the adhesions and he doesn't stop till he gets it all.

Toasting everyone for the good information. I don't know what I would have done without this board.  Okay, I am done gloating about my DS and all of you. Time to unwind.

Well since i have medicare (Secure Horizons is my medicare insurance) and medicare was the first, I believe, to approve the DS even for 2nd timers, they approved me within a month in January of '08 to have surgery by Feb 20, but I could not do it then until I saved some money, and I still have to keep saving, now for the 20% I have to pay, etc.  But I am on a roll with that and will keep going.

Yes, Felicia, I do remember writing to you when you first joined our bunch. And then soon it will be your turn. And I do agree with your  quote,"if you don't succeed, try, try again". I had the GB and it didn't work for me so I am going to try again with the DS!

Karen -  that is such great news, congratulatons - i can't wait to post the same thing one day.  What city do you live in, thought you were near Delano,  The psychologist he uses is a very layed back easy going guy, very pleasant to talk to and my appt. with him was pretty brief.

Dr. K. said he was doing lap bands because they've come out with a 3rd generation band that has better results and fewer compliations then models past.  He uses it as an option for people who don't have a lot of weight to lose, but he says given the choice the DS is by far the best out there.

Actually Deb, I live 3 hours north of Delano in Manteca. I use Dr. Robert Morgan in modesto.. I used him for my GB and for my previous turn to get the DS in '08 and he cleared me with no problems. I had stopped going to him a long while back, I think, mainly because he sort of told me there was nothing else to do for me, but I do feel I need to talk to someone about certain issues IYKWIM. I was looking for someone else, but never went anywhere. I think now I will call him back and see if he could just update my previous clearance or see what he would like to do.

Thanx for the kudos. So I have a little over two months to go and just like me, your turn will come soon hopefully.,
