You are weightloss resistant and I bet your current weight is an old setpoint where you stayed for quite a while.  That's why you needed the DS in the first place.

I hate exercise.  The hardest step of the whole thing is walking out the door.  Honest.  More protein and turn off the TV.  Even if you don't exercise, do something active.  Work on a home improvement project or a hobby that doesn't involve sitting down.  You would probably enjoy that more than TV anyway.

Hmm, interesting, it is a setpoint I maintained for about 10 years back after my staple line came apart. I had to exercise every day and really watch what I ate to stay there. I did it for about 10 years, from 1983-4 to 1994 or there abouts.

I don't actually jus****ch TV, I usually read and post on this board and a another one. But, you're probably right, I would be better off working in the shop or doing somthing other than sit in front of the TV or Computer.

I find your point about an old setpoint interesting.  Just like Kerry, I've been on a stall for 6 weeks, & it just happens to be at a weight that I weighed for about 8 years.  I wonder if my body is "use to" being this weight  & that is what my stall is about.  I've tried the recommended stall busters, but to no avail......

My exercise mantra pretty much sucks.  I walk on my lunch hour -I take the dogs to the beach!  Good for me & the dogs & since I am a responsible pet-owner I know I have to do it for them!!  I am dead tired after work, so I too have problems finding time to do more after work.  I'm lucky that the weather is moderate  here & I can go outside without freezing!

OK, this thread SO HITS home for me.  :)  I am a single mother of 2 boys.  I work Monday through Thursday 8-4:30 PM.  My youngest son does Karate 6 days per week.  My other son has many doctor's appointments, etc.

SO WHEN AM I SUPPOSED TO EXERCISE!?!?!?!?!  I get up at 5:15 AM right now, JUST to be able to get us all ready and situatied for the day and get my kid to school and to work on time.  And, when I get home, get supper, feed everybody, do the dishes, a few loads of laundry, then I WANT TO GO TO BED at 9:00 PM and usually DO!

I Supposed I could try to exercise Friday Saturday and Sunday.

I don't know.  I think for me, it is ALOT to try to fit into my life.  I do it for a short time and then Just buckle under the pressure of life and trying to fit everything in.

Yeah, it's really tough to do. My best success was to just get up earlier and exercise before I got going in the mornings, but I can't seem to get the motivation to do that again just yet. Doing it then always made me feel better all day too, but it's really hard to get up at 4:30 am every morning and then go exercise.

bummer, and here i was hoping that losing weight would make me magically want to take up jogging.  guess not, huh?

No, no, no it does make you want to take up jogging, running, swimming, skiing and all the other fun active stuff, it just doesn't give you any extra time or ambition to do all that fun stuff!

Hey Kerry - I too think it could be that you're not eating enough.  For a man, I don't believe 1300 calories would be enough even if you were absorbing everything.  Maybe you should try to eat more (protein and fat of course)?

Thanks Tiffany, the 1300 is a low day, I usually eat 1500-1800 and sometimes over 2000, but that translates to 800-1300 DS calories. Which is why I can't figure out how I'm maintaing the same weight for so long.

You know Kerry I was thinking about you last night after reading your post about being obsessed which really hit home for me. While what Barb said may have some kernel of truth regarding the exercise, the real crux of the issue is about the 2 of you finding the right ways to relate to one another regarding your journey. A subject I am intimately familar with becuase my husband and I also struggle with it. Although I know that you and she have discussed your weight loss ad nauseum, I wonder if you have actually articulated to her how she can support you or what you need from her? I hope I don't sound presumptious or bossy, i just know that this is a really tough struggle and as a wife she seems to be somewhat of a "caretaker" and as such may need to hear from you what constructive things she can do. Keep us posted on how things are going, it really sounds like you are both coming from a place of love, which sometimes makes it harder to set that boundry that says "this hurts me, more than it helps me". No easy fix, but sounds like you will work your way through (after 35 years you have surely been through far worse )
