Thank-you to everyone for caring about me! Special thanks to LadyDi for being my Angel..I know that back when she signed on for this she had no idea it would be a 2 month job!!!  (((((Di)))))

I haven't had a chance to read the posts but I think Di already let you all know what was going on. To summarize, went from NC to KY for RNY revision to DS with Dr. Husted on Dec. 5th. I don't remember hardly anything about the month of December but apparently I was very sick with a few leaks that required additional surgeries. I was supposed to be laparoscopic but I had too much scar tissue and Dr. Husted ended up doing it open. I had 5 or 6 drains hanging from me for a long time, that was not pleasant. Plus a suction drain. I also had 1 liter of fluid removed (that HURT) and then I had 2 endoscopic procedures to glue a stubborn leak. I was healing from all of that and then started getting blood infections..they had changed me from a central line to a PICC and the PICC turned out to be the culprit. I was running very high fevers and had awful chills and teeth chattering..hated that!
So, I still have the one leak but it leads to a fistula, a contained area. Even after the 2 glue procedures a small bit is left. He could have glued me one more time (this time with Superglue..yes Superglue!) but he felt it would heal on it's own with time, hopefully. It wasn't worth the chance of me having more complications and I seemed to be getting sicker the longer I stayed in the hospital.
I had to come home with a PICC line and have a visiting nurse to administer antibiotics for the bloodstream infection. I also have a physical therapist coming here for awhile to help me get my strength back.
My Mom and my husband stayed with me the entire time...I am so lucky to have them. I also had some wonderful nurses (Jackie if you're here HI!!!) and Dr. Husted is a very nice man. He came in to check on me almost every single day of my stay, at least once.
I'm soooo glad to be home, see my Dad who had to take care of our 3 birds and 2 dogs for us. One of the best feelings was to have my ****atoo run out of his cage and snuggle under my chin when I first saw him..I was afraid they would forget me.
Thank-you again for asking about me everyone, I appreciate it!!
And HI to Amy and Joan who I got to meet in the hospital, PM me and let me know how you both are doing!!
