Hi Natasha,

You are so right about the wonderful advice.  Totally rocks!

Thank you, too, for the great advice and encouragement.  You're also right about the clothing getting baggy.  I'm having to get rid of alot of stuff that simply won't stay on me anymore!

I'm inspired by new clothes!

Hi Julie and congratulations on the 106 lbs.  Now I will tell you what you don't want to hear.  The DS is not a free ride for those who started out with a high BMI or are extremely weightloss resistent.  You will have to 'diet' and be concerned about your weight for the rest of your life.  After surgery, it's not about eating less.  You probably need to eat more.  Protein, not carbs.  Carbs are the enemy that will keep you from reaching your goal.  That's just all there is to it.  There's always something you can eat.  Just not carbs.  It has to be a lifestyle.  After you reach your goal, find out what you can eat in the carb department.  The key word is after.  It's not forever deprivation, just till you lose the weight.  I can promise you the automatic weightloss does stop.  It's up to you where you are in this game when it happens.

Read Kilaani's profile.  She is the only female DSer I know who made it to a normal BMI after starting out with a high BMI.  She was a revision too.  I know her IRL and believe me, she works out and eats very carefully.

I wish the DS was a free ride for all but it isn't.  Try not to resent it too much.  After all, every carb you don't eat contributes to defeating your real enemy; fat.  It does get easier over time when the weightloss lets you feel more 'normal' and you can do things like shop in regular stores.  You have much more to look forward to.  Those things are more important than a plate of carbs.
