Thank you, Anna!  What you said about meditation rings so true to me.  I used to do it, then stopped because I got frustrated!  (It's funny if you think about how we can get frustrated by just sitting for a few minutes of doing nothing but breathing and noticing.)

Thank you for the good vibes too, Anna.  I am taking what you said to heart.

Happy, happy holidays and lots of hugs,
Julie

P.S.  62 pounds in two months?!!! You totally rock!!!

That's fantastic!  Especially considering that when you started, you were positively teeny!

Where did you hear we lose half by 6mo? I know I definitely didn't lose half by 6mo. I did lose 100lbs by 6mo, tho, but just barely.

That is good to know!  Wow, what a relief that would be, to not be limited by the random 6-month weight.

As to where I'd heard the 6-month thing -- seems that that is what everyone says.  It's a relief to know it doesn't hold true in all instances.

I just posted this to Brinah about stalls:

Here's my 5-word philosophy on stalls:  Ignore them; they will end.
Here's my 5-word philosophy on periods of rapid weight loss:  Enjoy them; they will end.
Speed-ups, slow-downs and stalls are all part of the process.  I got hit by the infamous "6 month stall", and it lasted for the entire month!  I hadn't done anything different before it started than I had been doing for the 6 months before.  Stalls are like s**t - they both just happen.

I suspect the 6-monther has just hit you a bit early.  Don't worry - you haven't broken your DS, and you're certainly not done losingAnd please don't torture yourself back into the diet mentality, we all know where that gets us.  People vary in how carbs affect their weight loss.  Some do keep it very low, but I'm like you.  The idea of staying at 50 or below just felt like too much deprivation to me.  So I started out aiming for 75-80 (100 max).  I really expected I would have to go lower, but I've lost beautifully at that level.  There is a middle ground between 50 and 150.  Why not go there, and see how you do?

Ooooohhhh, really good advice.  Your voice speaks to my inner "wise mind," and reminds me to take a deep breathe instead of jumping off the deep end.

Inhale.............  and exhale..........

Many thanks for this calming and reassuring message.  I feel better already!  (Seriously, not just saying that.)

Julie you already got all kinds of good advice and I read every word to also help me on my journey. Journey always sounds so funny to me like we're traveling to the top of the mountain on mules! LOL

Good luck sweeetie. I'm routing for you

I agree about the advice!  Wonderful, all of it.  And very compassionate.

As to the mules -- they are very grateful we're DSers!!!  LOL....

Julie,

This thread rocks due to the people who posted and their advice.

I would also add, from reading this forum and the duodenalswitch.com forum,
it has been said that at the 100lbs mark and the 6 month mark, a strong stall usually occurs.
Drink more water based liquids and do the 80 gram carb thing.

Be at peace. Your inches are gonna look a lot better than the scale number looks to the people who see you every day. I bet things are getting baggy and fitting better for you!

Merry Holidays.
