Considering DS

Talk to Dr. Anthone in Omaha.  He has the Center of Excellence status and is an excellent surgeon.  I know that he does not as a rule do revisions but your situation does not necessarily fit the revision category in that it would be the second part of the DS.

Oh Lisa, this would be a very good decision for you.

With your sleeve you've always said from the very beginning that you could eat alot more than other people which sucked! So, it has been harder for you.  You too have a lot more weight than most people with restrictive only WLS.  It is so hard - soooooo hard, I am one of those people who have a restrictive only WLS and I don't have so much to lose.

The full DS is an excellent surgery for people who are willing to take care of themselves completely.  You must have your labs run on a regular basis so that you would become aware immediately if you had increase or change your supplements.  Again, it is an excellent choice.  DSers do well and enjoy their food and their lives.

Don't wait long if you are going to get switched.  Your weight loss will be most effective if you do it ASAP and not years down the line.  Now is the time!

Can your husband put you on his coverage?

God Bless you Lisa,
Leila

Thank you Leila...
yeh it really does suck being able to eat alot more than most..
I wi**** was different.. maybe I needed a 10F bougie lol
=) at least I can laugh about it, well sorta..
Im really looking into it. It really all depends on where I can find a surgeon...the distance is a big hindrance...as I would have to get someone else to drive me (we only have one car and my dh needs that for work, etc).
He could put me on his insurance, but we couldnt afford it, not to mention that Id have to go thru the insurance hoops and I dont want that either....Medicare is bad enough lol
big hugs...

Hi Lisa,

I can feel your pain. Sorry.

My BMI was 74 and Dr Gagner did my DS in 2 stages, I got VSG at March 2006 and lost 125lb in 10 month.

I bagged Dr Gagner maybe I do not need switch.

But he told me with my BMI and food habits I will not get to goal and keep it off.

It was agony for me to go for second surgery, but man, how I am happy now I did.

Even with full switch I am far from goal and I stopped to loose.

But I lost 189 lb and very happy I can move and live my life fully.
I can not help with medicare because I have insurance from work.

I wish you luck.

Alla

I remember you!
Don't beat yourself up. You've done very well in your 6 months with the VSG. It's only being realistic to accept that you need more than just restriction to get to where you want to be and stay there.
I don't have any brilliant suggestions about doctors in your area but wanted to wish you luck with your continuing WLS journey.

LOL is it too late to tell you " I TOLD YOU SO"

Sorry but i have no sympathy and want to offer you no help. You came on this forum and started a HUGE issue, because you said we were all being mean to you. You went onto the main forum and did the same thing, bad mouthing us.

SO you can find your own surgeon.

Ive never bad mouthed anyone here. I have only posted on the main board perhaps twice...and it was never anything about the DS board.
Ive heard lots of others talk about the DS board being rude.. but that certainly wasnt me
