Excessive burping every time I eat ANYTHING!!!!

What gives? Every time I eat anything I have to burp a million times before my next bite. Then when I am done eating I burp even more for about 1/2 an hour after my last bite. Its really embarrassing! I have gotten so used to it but when I ate in front of my parents over the weekend, they were really concerned! It feels like I have to burp in order to be able to continue eating. If I can't burp, it means the food is stuck and I am in trouble. If I can't burp, I usually have to PB. Anyone else experience this? Am I too tight? I have an appt. on Thursday and I will discuss this with my doctor. I just wanted to run it past you guys first. Thanks - Nikki

You may be swollowing excess air as you eat. Concentratre on exhaling just before you put the food in your mouth....that could help.

Good idea. I will try that and see if it helps. Thanks.

I have this same problem!!! I haven't gotten used to  it at all.  It only started happening after my last fill.  UGH.  I even burp with water.  I unfortunately don't have any answers for you.  I don't think I am swallowing THAT much air with every small bite I take.  I hope your doc has some answers for you.   I don't have an appointment scheduled until June 9th.  I did call my doc this morning but, no call back as of yet.   I know this didn't help at all with the problem but, at least you are not alone in the land of burps.  :) M

My doctor told me burping with water was a sign that you were too tight. And I was. Please do not keep your restriction that tight. I'm worried about the long term effects.

Some of us are just "lucky" that way. I've even tried what Nanner said and exhale before swallowing, still no go. Sometimes I can kinda muffle the burps but eventually they have to come out, I just try to wait till I'm alone if possible. Otherwise I just warn folks and get it over with. This probaly won't go away, mine hasn't anyway. If we were teenagers we could really impress the guys but I guess it's something we'll just have to get used to!

Ha ha ha you guys crack me up. At least I'm not alone. I burp with my mouth shut to try and muffle the sound. Perhaps I should embrace it and learn to burp the alphabet? J/k I will let you know what the Doc says about it! - nikki

I had this problem with my last fill and was found to be slightly too tight. Just a minor modification on my fill and I was still able to lose but didn't have the burping problem. This is especially bad if you are burping on liquids (water).
