caribou coffee?
I am still in my rapid weight loss phase so I am ultra low carb at this point, I try to stay at 30 or so. It was a beautiful day today so my friend and I went to caribou for an iced coffee. I explained that I am on the Atkins diets and wanted a high fat , low carb drink. To make a long story short I some how ended up with the Northern Light cooler, I was like hay they did something right it was delicious!!! After counting carbs all day and making all the right choices I ast down to total out my daily intake. OMG--- 15 fat and 68 carbs Ok, I said low carb and high fat!! I need something yummy and cold to get me through this warm summer I am trying to patiently waite for.
What are some favorite ideas?
Thanks!!! :) Tiffany
Hmmm...I'll give this a try. I would from time to time get a Starbucks sf caramel breve latte while I was still in the weight loss phase. Breve means it's made with half and half which has VERY little carbs. You could get your latte made with Heavy cream which would have NO carbs, but then you wouldn't have much protein either, that's why I liked the breve. I don't remember the counts, but you can check out starbucks.com and create a drink on their nutrition link and you can find out there. You could have this made and put over ice...I'm sure it would be delish!
I'm a Frappuccino girl myself, so I know what you mean about wanting to have something to sip on when it starts to get warm. Of course, I drink frappuccino's all winter long b/c I love them so much. I did wait on the Fraps until I was 15 pounds away from goal.
Hope this helps!

You and I have the same tastes. I am a Frappuccino girl now that I am below goal but when I want something hot it is a Breve Carmel Latte and when I was limiting carbs I would do the Sugar Free Carmel syrup.
The other low-carb drink I get at coffee shops is hot tea. If I am bloated or my tummy is rumbling I do Mint tea and have them leave a few inches of room in the top. Then I add splenda/sugar and LOT of 1/2 and 1/2. My favorite flavor is Blackberry Sage but the Mint is good for tummys. This way you have a warm yummy treat with protein (and tea is much better on the wallet than Fraps)

I second what Patty says. I drink a Venti Iced no-water Americano from Starbucks at least 3x a week. I add half-and-half to it and lots of Splenda. I drank them from about 1 year out.... (I was never a coffee drinker before surgery!)
I also love Starbucks UNSWEETENED passionfruit iced tea... good stuff!
Most coffee places have an iced coffee or iced americano just make sure you ask for unsweetened. Half-and-half does have some carbs if used in the quantities I use it (like 4-6 oz) but it was the one treat like that I allowed myself...
Enjoy!

I made this one up myself with experimentation--it's delicious! Fill your blender 2/3 full of ice. Add 2 pkg SF hot cocoa mix, 1/3 c Splenda, 1 TBL instant coffee, and 1 TBL vanilla. Pour in half-and-half to just below the ice line. Blend until smooth, using the ice crushing option as needed. Be prepared to buy a new blender every year or so, but soooo worth it!
