Hi Dawn, sorry you're having trouble locating a doc.  I know some people don't mind travelling but it wasnt an option for me.  Have you looked at Louisiana?  There is a surgeon, Dr Clarke Warden is listed on Duodenalswitch.com, he's in New Orleans which would be about a 6 hour drive for you. I went to Dr Hargroder in Baton Rouge which would be even closer but from what you've said he wouldn't meet your criteria as he hasn't performed 100 surgeries. I was lucky, I live near them so I met both Dr Warden and Dr Hargroder pre surgery.  I chose the one further away and with less experience (Hargroder) as once I'd met them it was just a "feeling" I had.  Weird eh?  If you're looking at just numbers you can find the info on the internet, if you're talking other factors into account that makes it more difficult.  I need to feel comfortable with a doctor and look at the whole vibe I get from them.  If I'm not liking their attitude, facilities, staff, prices ect ect then it won't work for me and that's a very personal criteria.  Imagine travelling overseas then hating your surgeon when you meet them!   It's very difficult to chose a surgeon from the internet and maybe you have insurance restrictions too?  Good luck, research all your options.

I'm a Dr. Crum supporter. He did a revision on me. And repaired a massive hernia to boot. He is good. In fact, even though we have several good PS's here, I'm going to have him to my TT. And you can get a direct flight into and out of Amarillo. Good luck on your search.

I will definitely look him up also. Heck I can fly to Dallas, Amarillo anywhere really. My sister in law works for Continental. SO I dont really have any restrictions. But I would like to stay in Texas if possible. Thank you, Dawn

I went to a seminar in Denton today with Dr. Stewart.  I really liked him alot.  Even after ALLL of the research I have done here, I still learned things.  He didn't say anything different to what I had learned either, which I felt was good too.  He wasnt "pro" any surgery, just gave the facts and explained all of the risks, complications ect.

I recently had a huge run-around with another doctor who had done around 4, so I am glad I moved on and am looking into Dr. Stewart.  From what I understand he has done over 25 of them and has been doing WLS for over 10 years.  I did contact Dr. Crum also, he is 7 hours away verses 3 with Dr. Stewart and they stated that he had done around 60 revisions to DS, but not many stand alone DS's, which I am not sure if that matters being that it would seem a revision would be much harder.

All in all I was very impressed by him, his staff and all of his knowledge and willingness to be honest with everyone and answer all of the questions.

Hope this helps!
