I had my DS in Brazil with Dr. Marchesini also. Cost was right at $15,000 for the entire thing, I mean from pass port & Visa to airfare, binder, meds, hotel, lab work ect....And For the record, I only bought 1 seat on the airplane used a seat belt extender and had no problems at all.  It was one of the most memorible trips I have ever taken. It was wonderful.

I had my revision with Dr. Ungson.  He is a great surgeon.  Hubby had his revision with Dr. Keshishian in Delano Ca (a Medicare surgeon) and very happy with that experience although the hospital care was not as good as mine in Mexico.  Dr. K does have a $3000 /$4000 program fee for all his patients so that would be out of pocket expense. :) Lori D

Hi Lisa: I am another happy Dr. Marchesini patient. I am 5 and a half months out now and couldn't be happier with everything.  During my trip, I wrote details about my experience at a blog at www.bswitched.blogspot.com (one of these days, I'll copy and paste all that stuff to my profile here). My surgery was $10,000 USD, airfare was approx $1,000, hotel approx $70/night for two people (we had three people, so paid more).  I plan to go back to Brazil for plastics when I'm ready. The care I received down there was nothing I have experienced here. Good luck in your search - when there is a will, there is a way. This is totally doable! I hope you find your way soon. Cheryl

I loved Dr. Marchesini in Brazil. I loved Brazil! My cost was $12K for flight, hotel, hospital, and surgeon. It was more like a vaction - with life long benefits! Dianne from FL

With the DS: there is no stoma, so no stoma strictures; there are no limitations (other than volume) against drinking before, during or after meals; 80% of ingested fat is malabsorbed; 98.9% of type II diabetics are CURED of this devastating disease, with data showing stable cure over 10 years out; there is the best average weight loss and most durable (average 76% excess weight loss going out 10 years) of all of the bariatric surgeries.  That's why I had a DS!

Mine was done in Brazil by Dr. Antelmo.
I believe the current rate is $11,500.
I can't rave enough about the care and the accomodations! It was beyond wonderful.
His email is [email protected].
