Ive had 8 shots in my back. I was told by a nurse not to have more than 3. You got to make sure you get a good doctor to do it. My mother in law has shots in her back and they put her in to a light sleep. Mine I had nothing. It was very painful and now I hurt were they gave me shots.

i had shots in my wrists for carpal tunnel, also type 2. the shot hurts like heck so that was my guess to why my sugar shot waaaaaay up. it took 2 wks for my wrist to stop hurting from the shot alone. in a way it wasnt worth it , cuz it wears off quickly. im on meds and insulin but i didnt change my doses, just stayed away from carbs, sugar. hope u feeling better.

You can get the metformin in a liquid. That's what they sent me home with. I was taking glybride, byetta and metformin all twice a day before surgery. They gave me insulin in the hospital the first two days. Then late on the 2nd day my BS was below 150. So they gave me nothing. Mine has been running upper 80s to around 116 with a couple higher (145 and 130). So I have not had to take any of the liquid metformin, and I'm hoping that wont change. But we'll see after I'm off the full liquid diet.

Topic: RE: glucotrol XL nasty side effect...preop problem
hello ... i haven't had my surgery as yet, in fact, i had my first bariatric consultation with a doctor last week ... i didn't like his bedside manner, so i will continue my search for the right surgeon ... anyway, i am a type II diabetic and have been on Glucotrol XL for seven years, i have never suffered from the side effect that you describe ... are you certain it is related to the meds? what does your doctor say about this? they had me on Metformin before the Glucotrol XL, but it gave me diarrhea ... maybe they can switch your meds.

A daily or weekly dose of insulin mostly are applied to persons with Type 1 diabetes. I don't mean to scare you but Type 1 diabetes are the main cause of deaths related to diabetes and its complications, as far as statistics goes. In order for a person to sustained and have a longer life, he must be injected with those daily or weekly dose of insulin as part of his medication. Type 2 on the other, has many ways to manage or prevent it to get worse, it can be a well-balanced diet, regular exercise, loosing weight and sometimes a dose of insulin only as prescribe by doctor but not on a regular basis as opposed to Type 1 diabetes medication.
