I tried it.  It never helped with weight loss or hunger control.  It only left round, red pop marks at the injection sites that itched and burned.

This was just my experience with it.  I spoke with my endo and pharmacist.  Both said they had never heard of this happening.

I used it for about 6 months. It helped me lose about 10 lbs. but just didn't help me with my diabetes control at all. I was a little queasy at first but it quickly went away. I know other diabetics that it has helped though.

In the grand scheme of things, no. There are times where I choose to ignore it, maybe for a week or so, but I call that selective ignorance, not so much denial. I still realize it's there, and I still realize I'm causing damage by eating certain things, but there are times where it gets to the point that I just don't care and need a break for a while, ya know?

I was diagnosed with my type 2 at age 25, about a year and a half ago. At first, I threw myself a pity party, but then, I pulled my **** together and started researching hard core. In 3 months, I had my A1 down to 6.2, and in less than a year after diagnosis, I was in the OR for a DS (since the DS has the highest resolution rate for type 2 diabetes of any current WLS procedure).

Hello! i had my first appt today.  my doc seemed to be soooo nice! (dr. Jeffrey monash, tucson az) his staff was great too! after today i have to send in my records and my psych eval and then he said it is up to my insurance.. i am right on the borderline at 35bmi. the doc said that having type 1 will help me too. everything sounds so good.  has anyone else been borderline and have recieved the go ahead?

now i just have to find an endocrinologist in tucson, if anyone here is in the area nad knows of one let me know! i saw the worst endo yesterday where she should have her licence taken away. she told me to not drink juice when im 30 but to eat a sandwich! told me to test less. she was insane! i told the doc today that i cant go to her again and he said just find an endo so i am lol.

the doc says that i could have the surgery as soon as late feb or march! im so excited!

Shawn,

I've talked with my doctor and he does blood work to check my kidneys and pancreas.  His opinion is that the kidneys are already a problem area for diabetics so it is hard to tell if there is an increase due to the Byetta or just normal diabetes related problems showing up.  As long as I have blood work and it is OK, I'm comfortable taking the it.

My doctor's office gave me a free month's worth plus some needles so I got a chance to try it before I had to fill the prescription.  I used ginger Altoids for the nausea and they seemed to help.  I ate smaller meals too control the nausea and honestly I think that was the reason I lost weight.

Good luck with it, Janis
ok, thanks

I know I am.. I was diagnosed this time last year. My doctor didnt tell me anything.. not what to do, what to eat or anything. I had to beg them to give me brochures on it. I was SO tired when I took the test & they are saying I have been diabetic for at least 10 years.. But I Have taken SO MANY TESTS & they all came out negative.. so why now kwim? The only thing I can say is I didnt sleep before the test.. and was falling asleep waiting to do the blood tests & stuff (every hour)

But. I have now switched doctors. My last a1c was a 5.. My blood sugar is about 118-125 every morning. I go today to find out what my new A1C number is.. This nurse has already spoken to me for about 15 minutes on my eating habbits & stuff like that..

Not saying I have accepted the whole Diabetic thing.. but I am listening lol.
