This is good news to me. I'm tired of struggling with my blood sugars even more than with my weight. I'm considered a light weight so I am concerned, but I could also take off at least 60lbs in the process. I've just had another diabetes med added to the metformin that I take and B/S are down to on average around 150 in the A.M. only and much higher throughout the day and bedtime. I'm ready to go ahead with this now b/c I believe I'll be able to maintain a normal B/S once sleeved. Thanks!
I was taking Metformin to control my blood sugar but had to go off of it because my kidneys could no longer process it. My blood sugar went back up to around 200. I had the vsg surgery and now it in the high 70s or low 80s every morning. I just reached a normal BMI for the first time since I was a teenager. Best thing I ever did.

I have read in a blog that people with diabetes should limit their pineapple consumption due to its high carbohydrate content and glycemic index.
Yes i have always been told to eat the whole fruit. Juices, unless you are trying to treat a low, is a no-no.
You can call and let them know. If your sugar is under control, you should be okay, in my experience.
Last day, I had visited the dentist in Dawson Dental clinic in Toronto. The dentist strictly consulted me to undergo the root canal treatment and he has also booked an appointment for next week too. But I forgot to tell him that I have diabetes and I wonder I could undergo the root canal in this medical condition. Is it risky to undergo the treatment without any medical precaution?
Just saw your reply here as I am also a type 2 diabetic on 2000 mg of metformin and insulin dependent ... am planning on RNY in Sept. and am so hoping it will at least put my diabetes in control to the point I don't have to be on insulin. Your response is very encouraging to me, as is the fact you lost 186 lbs in less than two years. Amazing! Congrats. I hope you are still doing so well!
I personally didn't go into surgery with Diabetes, just borderline pre-diabetes. I go to support groups regularly (yes, still)... and pretty much everyone with type 2 diabetes resolved ttheir insulin issues evev if they were on Metformin and/or insulin either right from the hospital or within a few months. One woman who has Type 1 diabetes- while still a diabetic of course, has greatly reduced her insulin from her pump and no long er has swings and crashes like she frequently did before.
There is one Type 2 diabetic that had to go back on Metformin, but only after he regained weight....

7 years ago I was two weeks from my surgery date. My aunt had just passed away from surgery complications; they didn't do a stress test. we have family history long story short I went to a cardio who told me I had had two "silent" heart attacks, common in diabetics...I was diagnosed with 99% clogged arteries, and had stents put in over the next several months.....they didn't work and I ended up with having to have a quadruple bypass.....that surgery that I Never had saved my life! Here I am seven years later and am in the loop to have the RNY July-August, my heart has completely repaired itself (I had a third heart attack that I KNEW was happening after I was stented, which caused the CABG surgery) if you have any of the conditions that cause clogged arteries I doubt the surgery was the cause and you are lucky you made it through with no problems...I had no symptoms and no idea I had had two heart attacks, the only thing I felt was very fatigued, which can be caused by a lot of things....so hang in there....if this applies GO RED FOR WOMEN! Completely healed heart is 100% strong and cardio calls me his walking medical miracle :)
I'm so excited and happy because my best friend is 3 weeks pregnant. Yesterday she consulted her Ob/Gyn and confirmed it. We are planning to throw a party for her.
She had severe tooth pain a few weeks back and her dentist Dr. Knebel in Sierra Dental, Calgary ( http://www.sierracentre.com/services/family-dentistry/root-c anal-therapy/ )asked her to undergo root canal treatment. He said there is no wrong with the teeth physically so it will ******ve problem inside the tooth. She was scheduled for the procedure on 20th of this month but since she is pregnant she can't get it done. Does she have any alternative method? Can she undergo the procedure in the second trimester?
She is a diabetes patient, will there be any difficulty in her delivery? I know we have to maintain our diabetes level at this time. Can anyone help me with this? Thanks for your time!!!
