Topic: RE: Just off Insulin, advice please.

I am Type 1, so I won't ever be going off of insulin.  Just wanted to wish you luck!  How long have you been off of insulin?  The 7.2 doesn't sound bad at all but the 10.2...not so much

I hope you're able to get it regulated soon and that you are feeling well!

I stated that dumping is a good deterent for me to keep from eating sugars and simple carbohydrates.  It works for me so don't tell me that that the threat of dumping shouldn't be used.  Anything that works to lose the weight and acquire better eating habits is a good thing.  You haven't even had your surgery yet.  You were asking about two wls and I was giving you the results of mine.

Are you restricting your carb intake? Even things like whole grains, fruits, and starchy veggies can be problematic for many diabetics.

I've just come off Insulin, 10 months after a vsg with a weight loss of 82 pounds so far.  I would have preferred RnY, but at operation the surgeon did the vsg as a safer option for me.  Some people with bands change to vsg after lots of problems.  There are potential problems after any op.  Do the research, take advice and make your decision.  Best of luck!

Don't lose heart.. you are still a newbie!    Keep on keeping on... but seriously, ask you nutritionist about the coffee/tea and splenda vs body hP and how that may impact your insulin resistance.
