Topic: RE: Low Blood Sugar
I have been having the same issues and as it starts I check my sugar and I am crashing at about 30, I have been lower and don't know where I am. I try to eat every three hours but it still happens in the evening. I woke up last night and had to eat something to get my sugars up they were down to 40.This is very scary, I am seeing an endococdisis at the end oF March made the appointmentin December they are hard to get in. I wish you good luck and I hope I can find out what's wrong but everything I try has not worked. I have also notices my gland are swelled in different areas of my body, don't know if this has anything to do with it.

yeah - both of those will cause dizziness, and sugar issues. Hope you get to feeling better soon. sure is no fun either way you look at it. Keep on sipping. I had a hard time with water, what I found was the icy cold teh better. Now some can't do that because cold makes them cramp - or so my dr said. but icy cold went down and didn't hurt. So play with temps - might find something that works for you.

Thank you. I am having a hard time getting enough water in and I also have had a sinus infection - I am finally on antibiotics for it. I have been really dizzy when I stand up.
I go back to work tomorrow. I drink a lot more water at work because I am on the phone all day.

Topic: RE: Does sleeve wls help diabetes?
while ALL weightloss surgeries that acheive adequate weight loss will HELP with diabetes, studies have shown that the duodenal switch has the best success rate at resolving diabetes. in fact, in europe they are doing just the switch part in normal weight patients to resolve diabetes. for more info on the duodenal switch visit DSFacts.com.
Topic: what tests to push for??
my son sees a psyche dr who occassionally orders labs. twice now he has ordered fast glucose and both times it has come back elevated. the first time we followed up with his primary dr. she retested , said it was fine and that it must have been a fluke. we are following up with his primary again on thursday. i know he is on a psyche med that can cause high glucose readings but for the safety of himself and others, he cannot be taken off of it. we have an extensive family history of diabetes. should i be pushing for any particular tests this time? would you be pushing for any particular type of treatment?
Topic: RE: Still off Insulin!
Thanks. It was really hard maintaining motivation over the 10 months wait, but as the weight came off then the insulin requirements went down. It's like a huge release of tension, my doctor was very resistant to my coming off any medication 'too early' so I've had to keep pushing. He doesn't believe in the good effects of surgery or the Atkins diet so I keep rubbing his nose in the results to try to challenge his prejudices...LOL. I presume that your need for insulin has decreased, but will never go down to zero? I went in for the RnY, but because of my anatomy there was too much risk of a leak, hence the vsg. The RnY would almost certainly have meant coming off insulin almost immediatly, but with more side effects than the vsg.

Says your about a month out when you posted this. How is your fluid intake? Rest - are you fighting any sort of infection. All these things will have an effect on your blood sugars.
Also being dehydrnated will make you weak and dizzy when you stand up.
Hope things get better for you.

Topic: RE: Any pumpers?
I'm a type 1 and a pumper - Loved the fact that i could lower my basal rates for during and after surgery. With going the laband route - might take a bit longer before your off the insulin (if you go off of it)
To avoid post op low sugars, I had increased my bg targets to be set a bit higher. Though talk to your dr before hand and get a set up so you can know where to set your settings. I had basal patterns set in my pump to go from 40% to 60% - could of ran temp basal rates all the time, but I wanted the patterns already programed in and ready to go post op. All these things worked out great for me.
Good Luck
