I was wondering How many Type 2 Diabetics were able to stop the medication once they had the Lap Band surgery, if they did, how long did it take. Thanks

I realize this isn't really an answer to the question you're asking, but if you're pre-op I strongly suggest you consider the DS. 98+% of the Type II diabetics who have the DS experience a complete remission of all symptoms, often even before leaving the hospital after surgery! Surgeons in Europe have been doing the intestinal portion of the DS on non-obese patients for the treatments of diabetes, with remarkable results.

I was banded on 6/12. My dose of insulin has been reduced by 40 units. I am going back to the doctors on Friday. I think with the reduction of weight I will continue to reduce my insulin shots. My endocronologist said that I could significantly reduce my shots if not get off of them all together. Pre surgery, I was taking 70 units twice a day. Good luck in your decision. My personal goal is to get off of insulin.
