Count milk sugar in your daily intake

Milk, even skim milk, has 12g of milk sugar per cup. Milk sugar CAN raise your blood glucose to unwanted levels so be sure to include that if you are having BG problems post surgery. My local Walmart carries a "Carb Countdown" brand of milk that only has 3g of milk sugar. It is sweetened with splenda to help its taste and is not too bad. My blood sugar levels (I had surgery on 12/19) have been much better under control since eliminating regular skim milk. Hopefully I will eventually be off all meds but until that time........

I agree 100%....the sugar and carbs in all variations of milk needs to be added to your intake. I LOVE Carb Countdown, but all of my area supermarkets are discontinuing due to lack of consumption. I haven't seen CC in Walmart, but I will now call around. Hopefully the manufacturer (Hood) isn't stopping production, I'd be lost without it in my oatmeal or cereal. Congratulations on your WLS, Wendy

Thanks Wendy, Hope you can find it in your local area. I am certainly glad I found it. I got through about a gallon a week.

Thanks. You all are sooo right! I drank lots of 2% milk at night, all night and it made me so tired and sugar was sky high. I didn't know about the milk at Walmart. Will check it out. Thanks again. Carol Spain
