Hi. It could be that your pancreas may be pooped.

I'm pre-op for the gastric bypass surgery and have been reading all I can find on the topic of diabetes remission and the gastric bypass.

One article states:

We need healthy beta cells - they are made in the pancreas - that can pump out enough insulin to push blood sugar into receptive cells. And over time, people with type 2 diabetes may lose beta cells and the cells they still have may not produce as much insulin.

So, when I have surgery to "get rid of" diabetes I am hopeful but I also know that I have had diabetes for 14 years and my pancreas may just not produce enough beta cells.

What surgery did you have? Did you have to take insulin before your surgery? How long have you had diabetes?
