Anyone still a diabetic after sleeve surgery? Ive been a diabetic for a long time...prob since I was 22 Im 39 years old right now...I am only using metformin for my diabetes NO MORE insulin or Actos pills.
My sugars are usually in 120's now...my last A1c was 7.5 I want to get it under a 6...
I would love some feedback thx
NOPE!!! I was a diagnosed diabetic for 8 years. I've been off all medications since surgery.
I am 6 months out from surgery. My sugars run 77-80. My most recent A1c was 5.0 WOO-HOO!!! I just met with my specialist and he declared that based on my 3 month labs and my 6 month labs that I am in remission and on paper, I am no longer diabetic and if someone didn't know my health history, they would never know I had been. With that being said, he stressed that I continue my healthy lifestyle and eating accordingly (ie: keeping carbs low). I am about 50 pounds from my personal goal.

Wow that is awesome I look forward to telling this same story. I am a diabetic and on blood pressure medicine. I'm thinking about having the gastric sleeve as well. Have u had any funny side affects or did the surgery affect your diabetes or sugar levels at the time. I appreciate any advice u care to share....
