labwork and sleeve

I unfortunately didn't really pay attention to this Forum til now but after starting to read some posts last night, it's making me wonder about if my surgery might be postponed?  I had blood tests on Wed. morning and met with my surgeon a couple of hours later.  He said I was a good candidate and the surgery is set for not this Mon. but next.  He asked if I was diabetic and as far as I know I am not so I told him as such.  I would assume even if he hadn't had the results back by the time we met on Wed. that his office would have called by Friday evening if something weird with my labwork would have come back to make him want to postpone the surgery?  I am not diagnosed with Diabetes but I'm sure that I'm probably prediabetic.  The last time I had a test showed me at 5.3% which was at least a couple of years ago.  What numbers typically make a surgeon say, 'whoa'?  I even had to pay all my costs up front 10 days before the surgery date.  So, I'm even already all paid up too.  Any thoughts by anyone?

5.3 is fine....and very good.  Ask your surgeon what they require in a1c....it seems that many are saying 10.0 is the upper threshold, which is high (but not surprising for out of control diabetes)....  I am post RNY and usually run in the low 7's.  I am on a pump and am very careful about diet, etc.

Best of luck!

Thanks for the info.  That is what I wanted to know.  I did put an e-mail in to my surgeon's nurse just to ask about my levels.  I appreciate you writing me back.
