Does being anemic affect the A1C test?

I am wondering if being anemic would make my A1C level inaccurate. Just read about the testing and since they check the the sugar in the red blood  cells, then average it. Seems like it would be off in a person who has a low red blood cell count from being anemic. Any info is greatly appreciated.

I did a quick google search and found that because your RBC's may be low, your A1c may also be falsely low.
