I am wondering if anyone has tried this injectable for your diabetes.
My daughter has diabetes type2, and her pc thinks this may be a good drug for her.

I am currently taking it and I am ok with it. It is much easier than Byetta to me because it is only 1 shot a dayand the Byetta was 2 shots a day for me. I hope to be off of all of this medication soon but I do believe Victoza is a good drug and I hope it works out for her.

My nutritionist put me on it about three weeks ago.  I did a lot of reading about it.  Nausea and diahrrea are very common side effects.  I started out at .6 mg.  I was fine the first day then the next three days felt just awful, but it went away.  Then after a week my dose went up to 1.2 mg and sure enough I got sick again, but it was only two days instead of three.  People are calling this drug the chemical lapband.  It robs most people of their appetite.  One of the things it does is slow down how fast your stomach empties, so as a result you feel full faster and longer.  I have always been a habitual night time snacker, and I'm not anymore with this.  Last night I was still full at 9:30pm (dinner was at 5:00 pm) when my husband wanted a snack.  Oh and warning - I have found that if you push past that full feeling and eat anyways, it makes you feel awful.  At least that's what it does to me.  It's taken away my desire to overeat.  I had my nutritionist appt this morning and I had lost 9 pounds!!!  My fasting blood sugars are still high, but the nutritionist said it works on the between meal levels.  It actually helps your pancreas function more normally.  I reccomend reading every bit of literature the company makes on it.  I've also read lots of comments online about it. The needles are painless.  I think testing my blood sugar hurts more.  So far I'm happy wit hthe results, and I actually feel like it's prepping me for WLS.  Hope this helps.

I am taking metformin and added the victoza last month. I promptly lost twenty pounds. I take it at night at bedtime, no side effects. I am finally feeling full when I eat, and I don't crave carbs. It would be a miracle drug if I could take it forever.

Have been on Victoza about 2 weeks, the first week at half dose, and a week at the full dose.

I tried taking the shot before bed, but woke up sick to my stomach, head fuzzy until noon.  I have switched to taking the shot in the morning after breakfast, and it seems to be okay.

I have bad acid reflux, depending on what I eat, and the occasional nauseaus feeling.  I seem to have a thick taste in my  mouth at times as well.  Chewing gum helps. Coffee, orange juice and cheese are off my menu because of this.

With 1000mg  metformin in the AM and the same in the evening, my bloodsugar seems to be stable.

I have lost about 10 pounds.

I don't seem to be as hungry during the day, and at supper I can only eat about half my dinner before I feel stuffed.

If your daughter can stand injecting herself, and is prepared for a rough patch until the side effects subside, it is something to think about.

It is not covered under any government (OHIP at least is not covering it) drug plan such as the trillium program, and my druggest says it runs about $156 for three pens.  When on the full dose each pen is about 12 shots.

I have also take victoza, havent lost any weight with it but it does lower my blood sugar and actually makes me feel full. I think I havent had the weight loss like most people because of all the insulin I take ( despite what my doctor thinks, I dont think insulin has made me fat, but I do think it has hinder my weight loss)

I was on this for 1 month.  The first two weeks it worked pretty well, the second teo weeks I woke up with glucose readings over 250.  I immedietely went back to Byetta.  I like the Byetta better for me if it wasn't for the sweating.  That is why I have chosen WLS.  I am Type II diabetic too.
