Blood sugar too high?

I'm a pre-op but I have some concerns  that I am hoping those who have experience with diabetes can help me with.
I started checking my blood sugar this past week again as I have some issues with blurred vision, dizzi-ness and heart palpitations not associated with anything else I can think of. My blood sugar has consistently been over 100 no matter what time of the day I take it or what if anything I have or have not eaten. (112 at 10 minutes after waking no food or liquids as of 6:30pm the night before. 128 within 2 hours of eating a salad with creamy italian dressing and having a Vitamin water and a cup of coffee with cream and sugar) I am concerned that maybe I have diabetes creeping up on me in addition to the high cholestrol. I do have a history of hypoglycemia which is why I have a glucose meter and know how to use it but before I was watching for really low glucose levels and was always happy when I could spend a whole day in the 75 to 80 range (no dizziness or blurry vision stuff) Now I see it's shot up to over the 100s and I don't know if that is something I need to be alerting my doc to or not.
I am having bloodwork done again on Friday but for the hyperlipidemia and not sure if they will automatically test blood glucose at that time. But maybe I should ask if they can?
I guess it's a good thing I am having things checked now because anything unusual I am catching right away. But it can be exhausting trying to keep up with everything. I just need to know if I should be keeping track more stringently (like before I take my vites and before bed and when I wake up) or if Im just worrying for nothing.

Yes, being over 100 after an overnight fasting is too high IMO.  Perhaps you should be tested for PCOS.  There are certain subgroups of type 2 diabetics that have more trouble with fasting glucose than they do with post-prandial, but they're not the most common.  I doubt those sugars though are related to dizziness or blurred vision.

I'm new to the forums, so excuse me if I am stepping on any toes, but just wanted to note that you should talk to your Dr about the blood sugar concerns, as a KNOWN side effect of meds for high cholesterol is high blood sugar.  yes, they can actually give you diabetes....  I know most drs prefer to swallow info from the drug companies, but if you do your own research and bring your concerns to the Doc, most will listen.

Also, fasting blood glucose under 120 is not considered a problem for any except the most drug company brainwashed docs.....

I am not a nurse, but may as well be in this area as I have had to assist with directing care for many family members, including my husband who only wishes he could get readings in the 100's, even with insulin....hence the consideration of surgery.....

High blood sugar (Hyperglycemia) is a major cause of complications with diabetes. It happens from time to time to all people who have diabetes. You should check blood glucose levels to determine when your level is high. When level of blood sugar become high, lower your blood glucose level by exercising, unless ketones are present in your urine.

Read on blood sugar 101.com and on diabetesforums.com for a wealth of info. I am atype two diabetic recently diagnosed and have higher fasting blood glucose readings in the morning because of what is commonly known as the dawn phenomenon. Diabetes and insulin resistance is just about the most complex and individual disease in how our bodies react than anything I have ever come accross before. Talk to your doctor and get a referral to an endo specializing in diabetes. That is still not enough as you must do a lot of your own research and testing and experimenting with what works for you. Have you had an HbA1c test done? It shows average blood glucose over 3 months by testing glycated hemoglobin. Again, it is very individual and does not identify how high you may spike post prandially as its an average. I hit the books hard after my diagnosis and really learned a lot on the above sites.
