a1c guidelines for teens?

 my son has an a1c of 5.7 and the dr is saying he has insulin resistance. i always thought the cutoff was 6.0. we will be seeing the endo soon so i will be talking to her in depth but wondered if anyone here knew about this.

The most widespread resources say anything below 6.0 is normal. However, if you dig deeper, you'll find that an A1C above 5.5 is really cause for caution/monitoring. I don't believe age makes a difference. Sounds like your doc may be on the conservative side (which, IMO, is a GREAT thing!).
