Neuropathy

I am almost 4 weeks out and prior to going in I had severe diabetic neuropathy in my feet and hands. I was wondering if anyone else who has had the surgery has had neuropathy and did it get better after surgery?

I'm 7 days out and was wondering the same. How is your sugar running?

I an 8 weeks out and have and had neuropathy. I take cybalta for other medical  problems, it helps the neuropthy a great deal. maybe you could look into this.

I don't have anything to add just wanted to wish you both the best.  I know someone that struggle with neuropathy and I know it's a very hard thing to deal with.  I sure hope it improves for both of you!

My sugars are running great, nothing over 135 in the last 4 weeks, I am officially off ALL my diabetes medications, they are just monitoring me, but the neuropathy is still bad, I take a quarter of a 100mg of morphine about every other day. I know that my exercising is not helping it much, but its the lesser of the evils I guess.

It will probably not change it as Neuropathy is nerve damage but it should cut back on any increased damage. Good luck

I don't think it ever goes away I'm 3 years out and I still have neuropathy in my left foot. I take 150mg of lyrica twice a day and it does help.

I'm 5 years out, maintaining a 180 lb weight loss and normal sugars for the past 5 years.....but the neuropathy is still there. It's not as bad as it used to be, not so much burning and sharp pains but that may be because there's less pressure on my feet.

I saw my neurologist this week and he said that the nurtition changes from the surgery may cause it to get worse for a while. Did anyone else have this happen?
My pain has been very severe the past few weeks and he won't give me anything for the pain. He is weening me off my gabapentin and has started me on the lyrica. I am only on 25mg twice daily though and I am not seeing a difference yet. It's just so frustrating I have lost almost 100lbs and it seems to be worse than before.
